CBD has soared in popularity since its introduction into the UK in 2018. However, functional mushrooms are another health supplement that have recently taken the world by storm.
Both CBD and functional mushrooms offer support for wellbeing, but can they be taken together? In this article we explore everything you need to know about mixing these supplements
Despite CBD only being available on the UK market since 2018, there has been a large volume of research into the supplement’s safety across the globe for many years.
This body of evidence has contributed to changing regulations that are now allowing CBD to be sold on retail shelves.
One review of human clinical trials investigating CBD found that anecdotal reports of CBD’s safety was confirmed in the reviewed research.
Another review of 29 double-blind, placebo-controlled trials, six open label studies and 45 additional studies investigating CBD found that CBD is “exceptionally safe, with very few concerns even at the highest dose range considered (>300–400 mg)”.
A placebo-controlled study of various CBD doses demonstrated that CBD was safe and well tolerated, however, it suggested the compound produced small decreases in blood pressure.
Functional mushrooms, often referred to as medicinal mushrooms or adaptogenic mushrooms have been used for thousands of years in countries such as Korea, China and Japan.
Lion’s Mane, Turkey Tail, Cordyceps, Chaga and many more adaptogenic mushrooms are now being utilised for natural wellness across other parts of the world.
One review looking at the safety of mushrooms supplements found that there was limited adverse effects from mushroom supplements in market data, and that mushroom supplements are generally considered to be safe for consumption.
The review emphasises that many mushroom supplements have a high degree of similarity to the culinary materials (mushrooms), such as Shiitake and Maitake, with a wealth of taxological data supporting their safe use.
The review reads: “The apparent prevalence in the marketplace, the lack of reported adverse events, as determined by the literature review and the very high degree of similarity between their mycelium growths (the raw materials investigated) and the culinary fruiting bodies to which they were compared give confidence that these materials are safe for consumption at doses consistent with dietary intakes of culinary mushrooms.”
As CBD and functional mushrooms are both fairly new supplements, there has so far been very limited research on the interaction between the two.
However, as both CBD and functional mushrooms have been found to be safe when taken alone, it is currently thought that combining the two will be safe.
One study has been carried out that investigated a combined formula of CBD and five medicinal mushrooms including Turkey Tail, Reishi, Shiitake, Velvet Foot, and Cordyceps militaris.
They study found that the combination formula was safe to use under in vitro conditions – which means in a petri dish. However, the authors encourage further research to determine the safety in humans.
Given the current state of knowledge on the interaction between CBD and functional mushrooms, it is important to consult a doctor if you are thinking about adding any new supplements into your wellness routine.
CBD and mushrooms may interact with other medications you are taking, or may not be suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women. A medical professional will be able to advise and guide you on whether a supplement is right for you.
If you have spoken to a medical professional and have decided that you would like to incorporate CBD and functional mushrooms into your wellness routine, it is important to be aware of dosage and side effects.
As with any supplement, a rule of thumb is to ‘start low and go slow’. This will give you time to see how the supplement impacts your body, and you can raise your dose over time to suit your needs.
Keep an eye on any side effects that may be caused by the supplements and speak to your doctor if you are experiencing any.
]]>According to NHS England, there are around 13 million women who are currently perimenopausal or menopausal in the UK. However, a survey of post-menopausal women in the UK revealed that 90% of participants said they were not educated about the menopause, and over 80% of surveyed women under 40 also said they were not educated about the menopause.
This lack of knowledge may leave many women questioning what they are experiencing when the transition begins.
Menopause effects everyone differently, and while some women are severely affected by symptoms, other women do not experience them at all.
The symptoms can have a big impact on our wellbeing, so, what are they? Let’s take a look at the menopause and some of the most commonly experienced symptoms.
The menopause is a time during a women’s life when her body begins to experience hormonal changes.
During this transition, the production of hormones that are crucial for sex, fertility and reproduction – oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone – begins to change.
The drop in levels of oestrogen is one of the main contributors to a number of menopausal symptoms.
So, let’s take a look at the difference between perimenopause and menopause.
Perimenopause is the start of menopause when a body first begins to experience hormonal changes. This change can sometimes begin years before the end of a woman’s periods, and can last anywhere between just a few months and seven years, with the average lasting around three to four years.
The menopause is the stage where a woman’s periods end completely, and a woman becomes post-menopausal once she has not had a period for 12 months.
While these are all different stages of the transition, people commonly refer to the whole transition as “the menopause”. The menopause begins at the average age of 46 and ends at the average age of 51.
Mental health issues such as anxiety, depression and mood swings are common symptoms of the menopause. One study found that approximately 15% to 50% of perimenopausal and postmenopausal women may experience these types of symptoms, along with insomnia and forgetfulness.
It is thought that changes in oestrogen levels may contribute to anxiety in menopausal women, as oestrogen is linked to the production of serotonin in the brain.
Serotonin is known for regulating mood, and when these hormone levels drop, so do levels of serotonin, contributing to low mood and anxiety.
Researchers have suggested that Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction may be a beneficial intervention for menopausal women experiencing mental and emotional symptoms. Stress may also play a role, as some research has suggested that excessive stress leads to an increase in stress hormones, which can negatively affect reproduction and accelerate the menopause.
Hot flushes and night sweats are often one of the most commonly discussed symptoms of the menopause, experienced by up to 80% of menopausal women.
Again, hot flashes and night sweats are caused by changes in hormones and can last for many years. They can have a big impact on a person’s life from interrupting sleep to reducing energy and causing low mood.
A number of measures can be taken to help ease these experiences such as maintaining a healthy diet and exercising, practicing mindfulness, wearing layers and speaking to your doctor about any available medications that may help you.
Oestrogen is a vital hormone for healthy bones, and its depletion during the menopause can lead to bone loss. In fact, research shows that woman could lose up to 10% of their bone mass during the menopause.
This is because oestrogen contributes to the formation of healthy bone, and its reduction during menopause contributes to this bone loss. This can increase the risk of breaking a bone as bone density is reduced. Research has shown that the use of oestrogen seems to reduce the rate of bone loss over a period of 23 years, and the longer the duration of the therapy, the less bone loss.
Another impact of changes in hormones is reduced libido, decreases in orgasms, possible pain during intercourse and vaginal dryness.
However, mood changes related to menopause may also impact the ability to become aroused and cause problems with intimacy. As one research study explains: “Hormones affect sexual arousal through sensory perception, central as well as peripheral nerve transmission and discharge, peripheral blood flow, and capacity to develop muscle tension. Impairment of this mechanism can lead to diminished sexual responsiveness, dyspareunia, decreased sexual activity, decline in sexual desire, and sexual aversion.”
It is important to be aware of menopausal symptoms so you know when to speak to a doctor, and as, for some women, menopause can begin earlier than expected.
There are a number of treatments and medications that can be utilised to help manage symptoms of the menopause including Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), oestrogen creams, mood medications and cognitive or talking therapies.
A healthy and balanced lifestyle that incorporates exercise and nutrition is also vital for maintaining optimal health during the transition.
If you think you are experiencing symptoms of the menopause, speak to your medical health professional.
]]>CBD has become a staple supplement in recent years for many who are looking to support a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
Legal in the UK since 2018, a YouGov survey revealed that 11% of the UK population now uses CBD.
However, there are still many who are unclear about the facts on CBD. A Food Standards Agency (FSA) report revealed that 15% of the population believed that CBD products were not regulated in the UK or did not know that they were a regulated product.
CBD is in fact regulated in the UK under the Novel Food Act which is enforced by the FSA. CBD products are classed as ‘novel foods’, meaning they can be legally bought and sold in the UK; however, they must pass rigorous safety tests to make it onto stock shelves.
We believe that knowledge is power, so in this guide we cover some of the most common questions about CBD to empower you in your decision making.
Cannabidiol – otherwise known as CBD – is a cannabinoid molecule found in cannabis. However, CBD is just one of over 400 cannabinoids that have so far been identified in the plant including THC, for example.
Cannabinoids are named as such as they are a kind of molecule that interacts with a system within the body called the Endocannabinoid System.
Found throughout the central nervous system, immune system, reproductive system and other areas of the body, the Endocannabinoid System has receptors known as CB1 and CB2 that interact with these cannabinoid molecules.
The Endocannabinoid System helps to regulate different processes in the body – like sleep, appetite and reproduction.
Ever wondered why cannabis gives people the “munchies”? That’s because of how THC interacts with the Endocannabinoid System to regulate appetite, increasing feelings of hunger.
However, not all cannabinoids have the same effect. For example, CBD does not cause the “high” feeling that THC causes, as THC is psychoactive, and CBD is not.
CBD is available in a variety of different product types so you can find what works best for you. These include CBD Oils, CBD Capsules, CBD Edibles, CBD Topicals, CBD Vapes, and more, so let’s take a closer look.
CBD Oils
There are three different types of CBD Oil including Isolate, Broad Spectrum and Full Spectrum.
An Isolate CBD Oil is an oil that only contains the cannabinoid CBD and its carrier oil, such as coconut or sesame oil.
Broad Spectrum CBD Oil contains a variety of compounds that can be found in the cannabis plant, including terpenes, flavonoids, essential oils, and several different cannabinoids.
Full Spectrum CBD Oil also includes these terpenes, flavonoids, and different cannabinoids, however, importantly, it also contains a trace amount of THC. By law in the UK, Full-Spectrum CBD products can only contain up to 0.3% THC.
CBD Capsules
CBD capsules contain CBD within the capsule case and are a great way for consuming CBD. Easy to swallow, CBD capsules mask the taste of the CBD within the capsule and allow for accurate dosing.
CBD Edibles (CBD Gummies)
CBD can come in a variety of edible forms, from gummies and chews to chocolate, coffee and more.
Like any CBD product, edibles come in a variety of strengths to suit your needs and can be a convenient and delicious way to enjoy your CBD.
CBD Vapes
Vaping CBD is another way to get a fast onset effect from your CBD. Available in a variety of different flavours, vape juice is a popular consumption method as it gets absorbed directly through the lung, causing faster onset effects.
CBD topicals
CBD topicals are balms or creams that contain CBD. Available in a variety of different strengths, CBD topicals are a great wat to get CBD directly to the area you wish to apply it to.
People use CBD for a whole host of different reasons. Supplementing a balanced lifestyle, supporting wellness and cultivating a sense of calm are some of the many reasons people are turning to this supplement.
A 2019 consumer research survey carried out by the FSA asked people in the UK their reasons for using CBD products.
The results revealed that:
Adding to these uses, the report reads: “...just under one in ten are liking the taste of CBD (9%), to help reduce high blood pressure (9%), and to improve memory / concentration (9%).”
As CBD increases in popularity as a supplement for supporting various aspects of wellness, understanding the basics such as what products are available and how much to take is crucial.
Despite misconceptions, CBD is regulated in the UK under the Novel Food Act to ensure safety and quality for consumers.
Various types of CBD products cater to individual preferences and needs, from oils to edibles and topicals.
If you are considering incorporating CBD into your wellbeing routine, ensure you consult a medical professional if you are taking any medications, adhere to dosage guidelines and consider safety recommendations.
Whether you're embarking on your first CBD experience or seeking to deepen your understanding, remember that education empowers you in your journey towards holistic wellbeing.
]]>CBD has been legal in the UK since 2018, popping up in stores across the country. Since their introduction, CBD products are increasing in popularity and many people may be using CBD to help soothe their travel nerves.
However, while CBD is not psychoactive, it is still not legal everywhere in the world, meaning caution must be applied if you wish to travel internationally.
So, let’s explore some considerations when travelling with CBD products.
It is completely legal to travel nationally with CBD products in the UK via train, car or plane.
However, it is important to keep in mind that all CBD products must contain less than 0.3% THC to abide by UK law.
Isolate or Broad Spectrum CBD Oils do not contain any THC, so will be within the law to travel with.
However, Full Spectrum CBD Oils will contain trace amounts of THC, so, it is vital you purchase from a reputable supplier that provides a lab report with their products. This means you can ensure that the THC levels in the product do not exceed legal limits.
At Supreme CBD we have a selection of high-quality CBD Oils including Broad Spectrum CBD Oil and Full Spectrum CBD Oil, along with CBD Products such as CBD Balms, CBD Edibles and CBD E-Liquids, that are third party tested and come with a lab report for your assurance.
Regulations on CBD are different across the world and might change over time.
While it may be legal to take your CBD product on a plane in the UK, that product may not be legal in the country where you land.
For example, CBD is completely illegal in China and Suadi Arabia. Travelling to these places with CBD could land you in hot water, as there are harsh consequences for being in possession of CBD, such as imprisonment or hefty fines.
Additionally, while CBD may be legal in the majority of countries in Europe, for example, some countries on the continent have imposed restrictions on the compound, such as Belarus, Serbia and Albania.
It is vital to properly research whether CBD is legal at your destination before travelling so you do not end up on the wrong side of the law. If you are unsure, call the embassy for the country to ensure you will be keeping within the law.
If you are travelling to a country where CBD is legal, it is important to stay within the guidelines for your airline.
Currently in the UK, airlines allow up to 100ml of liquids that are presented in a clear plastic bag in carry-on hand luggage.
However, these guidelines are set to be updated in June 2024 to allow people to travel with up to two litres of liquid.
Overcomplicating can cause travel stress when all we want to do is kick back and relax. That’s why we’ve broken down some considerations for you to keep in mind while travelling with CBD into a simple, step-by-step guide.
Ensure you:
Enjoy your travels!
If you are going to be travelling with your CBD products, make sure to cover these steps so you can enjoy a serene and stress-free travel experience.
]]>Cannabidiol, otherwise known as CBD, has been legal in the UK since 2018, and today, one in ten adults in the UK use some form of CBD product.
As a newly approved wellness ingredient, you may have questions about the risks and rewards of this compound, including whether or not it could cause dependency.
In short – CBD is not addictive.
However, CBD’s association with cannabis can leave many people confused about the facts. So, let’s take a look at the science and separate fact from fiction regarding CBD and addiction.
THC is the psychoactive compound that causes the infamous “high” of cannabis. However, there are more than 400 cannabinoids that have been identified in the plant so far, including cannabinoids such as CBN and CBG.
While THC is psychoactive, CBD is not psychoactive – meaning it will not cause the same intoxicating effects as THC.
This is because THC has been found to interact with a receptor in the body’s Endocannabinoid System called the CB1 receptor. On the other hand, CBD interacts with a different receptor in the Endocannabinoid System – CB2 receptor.
Research has shown that activation of the CB1 receptor is rewarding for the brain, while CB2 activation is aversive. So, CBD has a different impact on the body and mind than THC.
Research has shown that CBD on its own is not an addictive compound. Because of how it interacts with the Endocannabinoid System, it does not cause habit forming behaviours.
Due to the explosion in CBD research that has spurred regulatory changes across the globe, the World Health Organization has compiled a Critical Report on CBD.
The report details that there has been no case reports of abuse or dependence relating to the use of pure CBD and that no public health problems have been associated with the use of pure CBD.
The report reads: “Single dose administration of cannabidiol has been evaluated in healthy volunteers using a variety of tests of abuse potential as well as physiological effects in a randomised double blind placebo-controlled trial.
“An orally administered dose of 600mg of CBD did not differ from placebo on the scales of the Addiction Research Centre Inventory, a 16 item Visual Analogue Mood Scale, subjective level of intoxication or psychotic symptoms.
“In contrast, THC (10mg oral) administration was associated with subjective intoxication and euphoria as well as changes in ARCI scales reflecting sedation and hallucinogenic activity. THC also increased psychotic symptoms and anxiety. While THC increased heart rate, CBD had no physiological effects.”
THC may have the potential to be addictive for some people. This is believed to be due to THC’s impact on dopamine release, which has been found in research to be similar to other addictive compounds.
Equally, some people may build up a tolerance to the effects of THC, leading them to require increased doses or stronger cannabis for the same effects. Experts have suggested that cannabis with higher levels of THC has a higher potential for addiction.
For people who are trying to get the benefits of CBD from cannabis, they may find that the addition of THC ends up causing some form of dependence. Therefore, for those looking for the benefits of CBD, it is best to consume it from a CBD product with zero to 0.3% THC.
In the UK, the law sets the limit of THC in CBD product to 0.3%. For example, Full-Spectrum CBD products do contain traces of THC up to legal levels of 0.3%. However, this amount is so small that it will not risk dependency.
]]>Medical cannabis – otherwise called Cannabis-based products for medicinal use (CBPMs) - can be prescribed for several different conditions in the UK. However, unclear National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines make it difficult for doctors to prescribe them.
While private prescriptions are accessible, the cost can be a huge barrier for some people. This means that many people who desperately need medical cannabis still cannot access it.
A study of the UK industry highlighted how poor implementation of cannabis prescribing policy creates heath inequalities, emphasising the need for improved medical cannabis prescription guidelines. The authors write: “The UK government's lack of implementation of medical cannabis legalisation, combined with their ongoing prohibition position, is producing multiple harms to people who need cannabis medicine.
“The policy context is perpetuating stigmatising attitudes to cannabis which, as we demonstrate, contribute to social harms.”
The paper makes recommendations on equality of patient access, along with advocating on the importance of education and policy change.
Improving the future of medical cannabis
The paper’s authors highlight that up until now, medical cannabis prescribing has been superficial in the UK and implementation has been incomplete.
It emphasises issues such as lack of funding streams, lack of coherent pharmaceutical product supply, and lack of UK-wide training for all NHS and police staff, stating these issues are indictive of policy that fails to service patients.
The steps put forward in the paper to improve the future of the medical cannabis industry in the UK include:
A new industry for the UK
Despite these teething problems with policy implementation and prescriptions, it is clear that the UK medical cannabis industry is set to grow.
A report from Maple Tree Consultancy highlighted that medical cannabis and related industries could create a huge job market for the UK – generating up to 97,000 new positions of employment, which is more than four times the number of jobs in the UK’s fishing industry.
These jobs would encompass farmers, researchers, production workers, accountants, lawyers, IT specialists, financial experts, and lab technicians, for example.
To set the industry in good stead, the report puts forward recommendations for the government including:
The report reads: “We encourage the Government to give these Recommendations serious consideration, review the whole medicinal cannabis scene and assist this new industry, with huge potential economic benefit, to grow and develop in the UK.”
]]>When taking any supplement, how much is absorbed into the body depends on several factors such as bioavailability, a person’s rate of metabolism, and the route of administration, for example.
So how can we align all these factors to ensure maximum absorption of our CBD?
In our latest handy guide, we lookout the different strategies to help you enhance your CBD absorption.
How is CBD absorbed into the body?
How CBD is absorbed into the body depends on its route of administration. This can be through sublingual application (putting the oil under your tongue), oral administration - check out our CBD oils and gummies - topical application such as creams, or inhalation such as vaping.
When CBD is administered orally, it is digested in the intestines before entering the liver where it is metabolised and sent to the blood.
When CBD is administered via sublingual drops or inhalation, its route into the body is much more direct. When taken sublingually, CBD is delivered directly to the blood through the tongue, and when inhaled via CBD vapes, CBD is delivered directly to the blood via the lungs.
Due to these differences, sublingual and inhalation routes of administration offer faster results, as the compound can bypass the liver.
Equally, when taken orally, CBD may have a lower absorption rate, as some of the compound will be lost during the digestive process and when broken down in the liver.
It is important to note that every body has different rates of metabolism that will impact how bioavailable CBD is. For example, people who have fast metabolisms may metabolise and eliminate the compound much faster than those with slow metabolisms, reducing the compound’s availability in the body.
How fast or slow a person’s metabolism is depends on aspects such as age, gender, weight and hormone activity.
Improving CBD absorption
Now we’ve explored administration methods that can increase absorption – let’s look at different measures that you can take to give your CBD that extra boost.
Dosing timing
Did you know that when you take your CBD can have an impact on how well it is absorbed into the body?
Taking your CBD alongside a meal that is high in healthy fats can help with CBD absorption. This is because CBD is a fat-soluble molecule.
Research has shown that CBD bioavailability is increased when taken with dietary fats, as it helps with absorption into the lymphatic system and its transport around the body.
Eat complimentary foods
So, what type of foods with healthy fats can be eaten alongside CBD to help with its absorption?
Healthy fats include monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats which have been found to have benefits such as decreasing inflammation, heart health benefits and benefits for blood cholesterol.
Such foods include:
Fatty fish
Fatty fish such as Salmon, Mackerel and Sardines are full of healthy fats. They contain omega-3 fatty acids which have also been shown to potentially increase the effects of CBD.
Oils
Oils such as hemp oil, olive oil, avocado oil, sunflower oil, sesame oil and Medium-Chain Triglycerides (MCT Oil) all contain healthy fats. Some of these oils, such as MCT, hemp and olive oil are used as carriers in CBD oils to help increase absorption.
Fruit, vegetables, nuts and legumes
As well as fish, many non-animal foods contain omega-3s. These include fruits such as avocados, berries and oranges, and legumes such as mungo beans, edamame beans and kidney beans.
Nuts and seeds are also full of omega-3s, such as walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds, hemp seeds and chia seeds, as are vegetables such as seaweed, kale, broccoli, and other leafy greens.
Choose quality products
Ensuring you are using quality CBD products is vital if you want to maximise absorption into the body.
Choose a CBD Oil that has a beneficial carrier oil such as MCT Oil, and ensure it is made with high quality ingredients.
At Supreme CBD, all our CBD Oils are made with MCT Oil for better absorption. Additionally, our full spectrum oils are extracted using the gold standard - a specialist CO2 process which helps to remove any unwanted compounds, while creating maximum potency.

]]>According to a poll carried out by YouGov, nearly one-in-ten Britons have been using CBD products since they became available on the UK market in 2018. Similarly, there are 71.2% of adults in the UK consuming alcohol at least once a week.
Picture this: you’re nervous about going out for a drink with a new date tonight, so you want to take drop of your trusty CBD. But wait – can you still have that drink if you do?
Whether you’re celebrating or having a quiet drink with a friend, you might be curious as to whether your alcohol consumption is having any impact on the effects of your CBD, or whether there are any safety concerns over mixing the two.
If you’re taking CBD, it is critical to be aware of any drug interactions. Here, we explore the interaction between CBD and alcohol.
As far as current understanding goes – it is safe to drink alcohol while consuming CBD. However, the answer is not as simple as this, as there are some considerations to keep in mind when consuming the two together.
Scientific research has so far revealed sedation to be the most common side effect of CBD, which can cause people to feel drowsy and relaxed. At the same time, alcohol is a depressant drug and is known to induce sleepiness and slowed breathing.
These effects on the central nervous system from CBD and alcohol combined may increase levels of drowsiness, potentially leading to accidents or decreased coordination.
Additionally, both CBD and alcohol have been shown to reduce blood pressure in research, which could be a dangerous combination for some people. Reduced blood pressure can cause dizziness, nausea, blurred vision and fainting.
As every body is different, both CBD and alcohol will affect each individual differently. It is also important to consider your tolerance to alcohol and your own body’s response to CBD if combining the two.
The effects of the two substances together may be dependent on dose, so, if you’re planning to drink and drop, an important rule of thumb is always to ‘start low and go slow’.
Equally, moderation is key, and taking either substance in large quantities could be harmful.
As it stands, research into CBD is still in its early days, and studies that have been carried out have been done on animals or with small human cohorts.
Similarly, there are no long-term studies on CBD and alcohol, so our current understanding of the two substances interaction is limited.
If you're considering implementing CBD into your routine, ensure you consult with a medical professional to ensure it is suitable for you.
]]>Stress has evolved as a survival mechanism – a natural response to the perception of pressure, threat or danger.
While today we are not being hunted by predators, there are many things in our everyday lives that cause a stress response in our bodies. From work pressures, financial difficulties, and relationship problems to existential despair, global events and big life changes, we all face stressful situations that may impact our health.
Sometimes, stress can be beneficial. We’ve all heard the adage that people work better under pressure, for example, when we are competing, meeting deadlines or taking on challenges – stress can motivate us to succeed.
However, chronic, long-term stress can wreak havoc on our health. Being stressed triggers the body’s flight, fight and freeze response, raising the heart rate, increasing blood pressure, tightening muscles and causing the release of adrenaline and cortisol.
Cortisol is the body’s main stress hormone, which, during a stress response causes the release of sugar in the body to help improve energy and inhibit pain. However, high levels of cortisol in the body for a prolonged period can cause a cascade of health problems including anxiety, high blood pressure, headaches, mood swings and fatigue.
Additionally, chronic stress can impact our heart, nervous system, immune system, sleep and mental health, and some research has even suggested that it can trigger autoimmune diseases such as arthritis or lupus.
How we deal with stress can hugely affect the impact it has on our bodies and minds.
Some people may deal with stress in unhealthy ways such as overeating, smoking, or drinking alcohol, which can lead to further health problems and more stress.
So, ensuring you have useful tools and positive coping mechanisms for dealing with stress can make a world of difference to our physical and mental health.
For example, activities such as exercise and meditation can be effective ways to keep stress at bay.
In fact, research suggests that regular exercise is associated with increased emotional resilience to acute stress, and meditation has been found to improve symptoms of stress, depression and anxiety.
Spending time in nature, going for a walk, talking to a friend, or taking up a new hobby that helps you clear your mind can also be excellent coping strategies.
Ensuring you are practicing a healthy lifestyle is vital to help with stress management. This may look like implementing a hygienic bedtime routine, limiting caffeine intake and screentime, kicking unhealthy habits to the curb, and taking time for yourself to relax and unwind.
By having a better understanding of stress, we can adopt effective strategies for navigating its challenges and limiting its impact on our physical and mental health.

With the introduction of CBD products onto the global market, more and more consumers are asking if they will fail a drugs test after using CBD. However, in order to best answer this question, it is imperative that we first understand what CBD is and how a urine drug test works.
What is CBD?
Cannabis sativaL (hemp) and Cannabis Indica (Marijuana) are extremely versatile with applications ranging from construction materials, and textiles, to medicinal, and recreational uses. This may all sound straight forward, so why in reality is their so much confusion around marijuana and hemp?
The confusion is due to the word cannabis which is the umbrella term used to describe both hemp and marijuana plants - two different varieties of the cannabis genus. While both marijuana and hemp can be described as cannabis as they do share many similar features, they also have specific and distinctive differences.
The primary difference between the two is that hemp is nearly void of THC. In fact, in order for a cannabis strain to be classified as hemp in the United Kingdom, the strain must contain less than 0.2% THC. Hence, while it is generally true that CBD oil is THC-free, nevertheless it depends on the source of the cannabis that is used to produce the CBD oil, as some products do contain minute traces of THC. It must be said that these amounts are often so small that they do not even register above the minimum limit of quantification during 3rd party THC screening.
Researchers1 have recently discovered that the plant contains over 400 chemical compounds, of which around 80 are biologically active chemical molecules. The most important cannabis compounds are cannabinoids. There are approximately 60 different cannabinoids, the most significant psychoactive compound is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), particularly Δ9-THC. Other identified compounds include cannabidiol (CBD), however, it is vital to note, in contrast with Δ9-THC, CBD is nonintoxicating as it does not present psychoactive activity, but rather exerts several beneficial pharmacological effects (National Library of Medicine - National Centre for Biotechnology Information: Jan. 2022).
How Do Drugs Tests Work?
According to a 2020 peer reviewed research article2, urine drug tests are based on immunoassay techniques and usually target substances such as alcohol, amphetamines, benzodiazepines, opiates/opioids, cocaine, and cannabis.
Immunoassay test use antibodies designed to attach to specific drugs or their metabolites — in this case, the presence of THC and its metabolites. If the antibodies identify a drug, they will produce a signal in the form of a “positive” test result. Although these tests do not screen for CBD, some CBD products contain low quantities of THC that, in theory, could lead to an individual failing a drug test.
It is worth mentioning that positive results from an immunoassay test should be confirmed with the GC/MS method (Gas chromatography/Mass spectrometry or high-performance liquid chromatography) in order to eliminate a false positive result.
As urine testing typically only has a detection window of hours to days, accurate detection of drugs is one of the biggest challenges for clinicians especially substances that are so new that tests have not been developed to detect their presence accurately. A positive result simply tells a clinician that the individual had a detectable amount of a substance present during a certain window of time. This outcome does not usually indicate impairment as the effect of any particular substance nor that the individual has a substance use disorder.
So, if CBD only contains minute trace amounts of THC, then how can you fail a drugs test?
In order to reap the benefits of CBD you need to take it consistently and allow it to build up in your system, which may stimulate your endocannabinoid system causing it to react more to cannabinoids like CBD. That's why so many people use these products for everything from tired and sore muscles to a better night's sleep. Furthermore, as each of us have a unique biology finding the correct dosage ('Goldilocks range') for our own body can be a tricky undertaking (The UK Food Standards Agency recommends not exceeding a daily dosage of 70mg). As mentioned, because CBD contains minute traces of THC, consistent use of CBD will in turn lead to those small amounts of THC building up in the body.
How long does CBD and THC last in your body?
According to Dr Kelly Johnson-Arbor, a triple-board certified medical toxicologist and co-medical director of National Capital Poison Centre, the clinical impact of CBD can last for several days after use3. In fact, a 2020 study in the Journal of Analytical Toxicology revealed that individuals who had consumed a single dose of a standardised CBD product had detectable levels of CBD in their urine for four to five days after ingestion4. So, based on the half-life of the drug, it’s likely that detectable levels may be present for several days after use.
On the other hand, because THC is stored in the body’s fat cells, the length of time it remains detectable depends on several factors, such as:
Due to all these factors, it is difficult to set one single standard detection time period. Some estimate detection can be anywhere from two days to several months.
What other medication or food stuff can cause a false positive for THC?
Notably, a false positive test result for cannabis or THC can also occur if an individual is using other drugs, including:
According to a study completed by Rollans et al5 published in the Oxford Academic - Clinical Chemistry, NSAID's reportedly caused false-positive results for THC (marijuana) in EMIT and other assay drug testing systems. Something as harmless as ingesting 12000 mg of ibuprofen can cause a drug test to show up as positive for barbiturates, benzodiazepines, and THC (marijuana). From this study Rollins et al5 concluded that NSAID's interfere with the enzyme on the EMIT tests, thus causing false positive results.
Pantoprazole and Efavirenz have also been known to cross-react with cannabinoid immunoassays leading to false positive test results. In fact, Efavirenz has been extensively reported in literature to cause false positive results for THC.
Vitamin B riboflavin, or B2 is often created from hemp seed oil. Like hemp seeds, hemp oil contains minute traces of THC and is likewise capable of causing a false positive test result.
The same can be said for granola and snack bars which contain hemp seeds for extra protein. These too contain tiny traces of THC which may cause a false positive drugs test. However, you would need to eat a fairly large amount of hemp seeds to fail your test.
Conclusion
While urine drugs tests are a valuable tool in the workplace, and for health care it does not test for CBD because it is not an illegal substance, nor does it give an intoxicating effect.
Immunoassays are presumptive only as external factors can influence their results. A confirmatory GC/MS method test should be performed before decisions are made based on results from a urine drugs test.
Furthermore, clinicians performing these tests should request detailed medication histories from test takers, including prescription, non-prescription, and even any herbal medications. It is also critical that they familiarise themselves with medications which have the potential to cross-react with urine drugs tests.
Accurate interpretation of the authenticity and trustworthiness of these tools is critical especially when one considers that inaccurate interpretations of these tools can have serious social and legal ramifications.

This blog will explore these aspects, including the types of CBD they contain, the entourage effect, bioavailability, lifestyle considerations, and the option of combining both.
By understanding these factors, you can make an informed decision tailored to your specific needs and preferences, ensuring you choose the CBD product that best suits your wellness goals. Let's dive into these key differences and considerations to help you find the ideal CBD option for you.
Types of CBD: Oil vs. Gummies
Quality CBD products generally fall into two categories: full spectrum and broad spectrum. Full spectrum CBD contains a wide range of cannabinoids, including a trace amount of THC (usually below 0.2%). On the other hand, CBD gummies only use broad spectrum CBD.
Full Spectrum vs. Broad Spectrum CBD
Full spectrum CBD is like a symphony of cannabinoids and terpenes working together in harmony. It contains more compounds that contribute to the "entourage effect," which we'll discuss later. In contrast, broad spectrum CBD has fewer cannabinoids and terpenes, potentially making it less effective for some individuals.
The Entourage Effect
The entourage effect is the idea that CBD works best when accompanied by its fellow cannabinoids and terpenes. Since CBD gummies only use broad spectrum CBD, they may be slightly less effective at delivering the full spectrum of benefits due to the absence of some of these essential compounds.
Bioavailability: Oil vs. Gummies
Bioavailability refers to the percentage of the CBD that actually enters your bloodstream to become usable and beneficial to your wellbeing. CBD oil is known for its high bioavailability, as it's absorbed directly into the bloodstream when placed under the tongue. In contrast, CBD gummies have to pass through the digestive system, which may reduce their bioavailability. If rapid relief is your priority, CBD oil might be the better option.
Lifestyle Considerations and Ease of Use
CBD oil may be more discreet, and the dropper allows for precise dosing, making it ideal for those who want to tailor their CBD intake. Gummies, on the other hand, are convenient and don't require any special preparation, making them perfect for an on-the-go lifestyle. The choice between the two can also depend on personal preference – some people simply prefer the taste and texture of gummies over the earthy flavour of CBD oil.
Can't I just use both? : Combining CBD Oil and Gummies
If you're torn between the benefits of both CBD oil and gummies, the good news is that you don't have to choose just one. In fact, using both products can be a perfect choice for those who want to enjoy the advantages of full spectrum CBD from the oil and the convenience of gummies. You can use the oil for precise dosing when needed and have gummies on hand for a quick and tasty CBD fix.
Final thoughts
In the end, the choice between CBD oil and gummies boils down to your personal preferences and specific needs. If you value the full spectrum of cannabinoids and terpenes and prioritise bioavailability, CBD oil may be your best bet. On the other hand, if you prefer a discreet and convenient option with zero THC, CBD gummies could be the way to go.
Remember, there's no one-size-fits-all answer, and the best choice for you is the one that aligns with your lifestyle and wellness goals. So, explore both options, try them out, and see which one helps you feel your best.
]]>Bioavailability refers to the degree and rate at which a substance is absorbed into your bloodstream and becomes active in your body.
While there isn't a specific list of foods that are guaranteed to enhance CBD bioavailability, there are some general dietary and lifestyle tips that can potentially improve the absorption and effectiveness of CBD:
For CBD to be absorbed by your body, it has to be delivered to your body tissues in a quick and effective way.
There are a number of methods for taking CBD oil. They vary depending on the product itself, and your preference. You can use CBD oil under the tongue, swallow it, or apply it topically.
This isn't including the other forms that CBD comes in, such as:
Each method varies when it comes to how fast the CBD reaches the bloodstream and how long it lasts in your system.
When it comes to taking CBD oil orally, for experienced users the choice is clear. Administering CBD oil under the tongue is generally the favoured option. You may hear it described a little differently. For instance, you may hear the phrase “take CBD oil sublingually”. But in this case, the same method is being referred to.
Given the popularity of this method, you may well be wondering:
In this post, we will explore all the various reasons why do you put CBD oil under your tongue. We will also compare it with other methods, and tell you how to do it correctly.
Finally, we've provided a list of frequently asked questions to make sure you're fully informed.
When it comes to taking CBD oil, there are a range of methods on offer. But this can sometimes be off-putting, especially for beginners. How to decide on the best method, or the easiest? Often, you'll find directions for use on the label of your CBD oil, especially if you buy from a reputable supplier.
The chances are that putting the CBD oil under your tongue will be near the top of the list. In fact, most bottles come with a dropper for this purpose.
So, when it comes to taking CBD oil under the tongue, or "sublingually" as the experts say, you will use the dropper to place the oil under the tongue.
The process is quite straightforward:
You can leave your mouth open or close it. It will not affect the absorption of the oil.
Taking CBD on a full stomach is known to increase the ease with which it is absorbed into the bloodstream. However, it is better not to take CBD oil a few minutes after eating. Wait at least twenty minutes after a meal to administer your CBD oil.
Also, try to avoid eating or drinking immediately after taking CBD oil. Give it 20 minutes before you ingest anything.
Experts agree that using this method to deliver substances to the bloodstream is very effective. However, it is not suitable for all chemical compounds. For instance, some vitamins need activation by the liver to work. For others, including CBD, the sublingual mode of delivery is fast and efficient.
When placed under the tongue for a short period, the mucous membrane absorbs it. It goes straight into the bloodstream, but the final destination is the body tissues.
It is important to note that other factors, such as the quality of the CBD oil and its pH can have an affect how sublingual methods of taking CBD oil work. Also, some studies have shown that CBD products that utilize MCT oils as the carrier are absorbed better.
Our Supreme CBD oils are the best on the market. We use MCT oils for optimum absorption, and our CBD oil comes from organic, non-GMO hemp, which is processed using the CO2 method of extraction. This method ensures that no solvents remain in the final product. Our products contain less than 0.2% THC, putting them firmly within the legal standards.
For fast-acting full-spectrum CBD oil, use our pipette for easy sublingual application. Our high concentration means you only need a few drops of CBD oil to get the daily recommended dosage.
It is simple to administer your daily dose of CBD oil using the sublingual method. No preparation is required. Using the dropper, you simply need to measure the recommended dose and place it in your mouth. Special equipment is not necessary.
CBD is absorbed into your bloodstream quickly; hence, it becomes available to your body after only a short period. This is what makes the sublingual method a popular choice.
Micro-dosing is a great option for beginners, and it is made possible with the sublingual method. Micro-dosing means taking small doses and incrementing with time until you find the perfect dosage for you. Why not record the number of drops you take every day and include how you feel with each dose?
There are many good reasons to take CBD under the tongue. It should be no surprise that it is a popular option, especially among experienced users. However, you may encounter some difficulties, particularly if you are a beginner. Nevertheless, many of these difficulties can be easily remedied.
Firstly, not everyone is keen on the taste of CBD oil. Many people describe the taste of CBD oil as earthy and grassy. Some find this unpleasant, which makes the task of holding the CBD oil under the tongue for the recommended time more difficult.
To remedy the situation, you can:
For new users, it can also be hard to know the number of drops you have taken if you don’t know what to expect. Sometimes positioning the dropper may present issues for first-time users.
There are two easy ways you can solve this problem.
The various methods of taking CBD each come with their own benefits. In many ways, the choice is down to individual preference. You want to find the perfect combination of taste, convenience, and speed to suit you.
Topical application (on the skin)
Balms and creams infused with CBD enable you to absorb it through the skin. CBD applied in this way does not travel to the bloodstream but concentrates on a target area. This a great choice if you want to easily incorporate CBD use into your daily skincare routine, or if you are a regular gym-goer, you might like to use a CBD muscle and joint rub.
Edibles
Edibles are the perfect choice if you like a sweet treat – CBD gummies come in a wide variety of forms, including gummy bears and other sweet treats. They are a convenient and discreet way to take CBD every day. Pop a packet of CBD gummies in your bag or pocket and take one whenever suits you.
The range of flavours available also makes this a good option for those who do not enjoy the natural taste of CBD.
Vaping
Like the sublingual method, vaping is an efficient way to get CBD into your bloodstream fast. It involves the use of special equipment that heats CBD-infused e liquids, turning them into vapour. When you inhale the vapour it gets to your lungs and through the lung membranes to the bloodstream. This makes it a particularly speedy delivery method for CBD. However, be sure to buy specially-designed CBD e-liquids. As our blog post explains, you should not simply add CBD oil to your existing e liquid.
Taking CBD sublingually is a convenient way of enjoying your daily dose of CBD. It is discreet and requires no setup or equipment. If you don't enjoy the earthy, grassy taste of CBD, consider trying the many flavoured oils that are available.
Above all, be sure to check the quality of the product you are taking by insisting on third-party lab test results. Reputable suppliers will have these lab results clearly posted on their website for you to consult.
Why do you put CBD oil under your tongue?
When you place CBD oil under the tongue, it is absorbed into the bloodstream quickly. With this method, more of the CBD gets to your system.
Should you swallow the remaining oil in your mouth after the required time?
Yes. When the recommended time is up, you can swallow the remainder.
Can you wash the taste down with water?
Yes. If you find the taste of CBD bitter, wash down the taste with a glass of water. But it is better not to drink or eat anything for twenty minutes after taking CBD oil.
Is vaping more effective than the sublingual method?
When you vape CBD, it gets to your bloodstream faster when compared to taking it sublingually. However, taking oil sublingually is a quicker and more straightforward process that requires no additional equipment.
Should you close or open your mouth after placing drops under your tongue?
The choice is yours. It does not affect the absorption whether you open or close your mouth.
How much CBD does a drop of oil contain?
It depends on the concentration of the oil - at Supreme CBD we carry oils in a range of different strengths from a lighter 1000mg CBD oil right up to a super strength 6000mg CBD oil. Many companies indicate the amount of CBD in a drop to help you follow your dosage directions.
Can’t I swallow the CBD instead of placing it under the tongue?
Simply swallowing CBD, while not wrong as such, limits the amount of CBD that ends up in the bloodstream.
]]>Can you overdose on CBD? This is a reoccurring question we get at Supreme CBD and have come up with a conclusive answer to help you understand the subject once and for all.
CBD is a compound derived from the hemp plant that includes low toxicity and intoxicating effects. If you take quality CBD products, there is no or very low risk of overdosing even if you took more than the recommended dose. According to data sources we know so far, CBD has been found to be safe and well-tolerated by most age groups, even at higher doses. Hence why it is legal in the UK.
It is easy to be confused when it comes to the difference between THC and CBD. And it's with this confusion that's what has led to rumours that CBD could be harmful in high doses. CBD is actually a lot safer than THC and has been used by many people, with that number increasing over the years.
Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the part of the hemp plant or Cannabis Sativa that has intoxicating properties, being the cause of what makes the user feel high when they take it. CBD, though from the same plant, does not cause any high regardless of how much CBD you have taken. It’s far easier to overdose on THC, which has been shown to come with a host of potential side effects.
It is impossible to overdose on CBD. This is due to CBD not interacting with the same receptors in your brain as THC.
If you have ever taken more CBD than you should have, you might have experienced fatigue and have been more tired than usual - or had a dry mouth. This often happens about 70-120 minutes after consuming CBD.
It is not easy to answer questions about a CBD overdose, but it’s possible to give a general idea of what an overdose would look like, should it ever happen. Generally, people take CBD for different reasons. For one person, they may prefer to take 50mg and it be more than enough, while for another person may require 100mg.
Should you take around 20,000mg of CBD at once, this is what would be considered a lethal dose. As you can tell, no one can be able to take that much CBD, regardless of the format even if they wanted to. This makes it practically impossible to accidentally overdose. So if you've taken a few mg more than you usually take, you shouldn't be scared. The worst that could happen is for you to feel slightly more fatigued.
The reality is, there is no such thing as an overdose when it comes to taking CBD. However, there are some unique situations when taking CBD products where you may want to be cautious. Some of these that you should be aware of includes:
Mixing CBD products with intoxicating substances such as alcoholic drinks.
Making your own CBD products. With so many tutorials online, teaching you how to make your own - it can be rather tempting to make your own CBD at home, but you shouldn't. There is a chance you may contaminate your CBD, increasing the risk of potential side effects that could be mistaken for contamination.
If you take CBD to tackle nervousness or other ailments and expect immediate results. For instance, if you are taking CBD for discomfort and you keep taking more, by the end of the day, you may have actually taken more than you need or have been prescribed.
If you take CBD as part of your prescription, the dosage should be carefully planned out depending on your condition. Your medical practitioner should be able to figure this out before they introduce it to you. For you, it's important to follow the advice of the doctor to avoid "overdosing" on it.
Calculating out how much CBD to take is a little complex because there is no one dosage that fits everyone. But if you're looking for a CBD dosage that suits your requirements, there are multiple suggestions that you can work with for your situation. The general rule of thumb is to start with as little CBD as possible that's comfortable with you. Once you have taken a small amount and you feel that you want to increase the dosage, perhaps increase the dosage little by little until you are satisfied. You can also decrease the dosage should you need to.
If you're a beginner to CBD, 20mg is a reasonable amount to start with. Spread this amount of CBD throughout the day and observe your experience with it before you choose to increase the dosage. If you are already used to taking CBD, 70mg is a comfortable quantity throughout the course of the day.
If you are prescribed CBD from your doctor, only use what the doctor has recommended. Whenever by chance, you want to increase or decrease the dosage, talk to your doctor first so they can adjust accordingly.
That said, the "lethal dose" of CBD is way more than anyone can ever manage to take. But it’s always important to remember that too much of anything is bad, and so is CBD for you.
Regarding what time is best to use your CBD products, the answer to this largely depends on what CBD products you decide to use. CBD oil is often used in the morning, before work and even during lunch and after you finish work. CBD capsules, however, are usually taken once or twice per day, especially if prescribed. Vaping CBD often happens when the user finds it most convenient throughout the day.
CBD is essentially a natural product that is safe to use. It can be taken any time of the day so long as you are comfortable with using it. What you need to watch out for is your dosage and you'll be fine. Here are some of the ways it has worked best for most users:
There is a point of caution you should consider, however. You can often be tempted to keep eating CBD sweets as they often lack the earthy taste of CBD oil. Always keep in mind to stick with your daily dosage.
Now you should have a decent understanding as to whether you can overdose on CBD. The short answer to this question is that it is almost impossible to overdose on your CBD products. There is however, the factor of introducing foreign substances into your CBD; if these substances are intoxicating, you may end up taking more than you should. You should avoid taking CBD with other intoxicating substances at all costs.
]]>Most beginner CBD oil users often want to know the best way to take CBD oil because there are so many ways to take it. For example, CBD oil drops can be swallowed or taken sublingually. You can blend the oil into your favourite drink or even apply it over your skin. "The best way to take CBD oil" depends on your preferred way to take CBD.
In this post, we explore these methods and give tips on how to get the most out of your CBD oil.
Always remember that when it comes to taking CBD, the method that works for one person may not work for another. To find the right way for yourself, you have to experiment with the available options until you reach one that suits you.
There is a variety of factors that may contribute to the way you take your CBD oil. Some of these include the format in which your CBD oil is featured and the other ingredients present in it. CBD comes in three forms which are:
Manufacturers indicate the form of CBD on the label of your oil or on the third party results. If you can’t find this information anywhere, don't buy the product. Always source your products from credible suppliers, and insist on third party lab test results.
Full-spectrum CBD oil contains the complete chemical profile of the Hemp plant. Broad-spectrum CBD contains all the compounds from the hemp plant except for THC. CBD Isolate is the purest form of CBD containing nothing else but the cannabinoid.
Here are some of the best ways to enjoy your CBD:
The tincture comes in easy to use droppers that help you to administer the oil into your mouth. The recommended way to consume tinctures is through sublingual administration. This means placing drops of oil under the tongue and letting it linger there for no less than 90 seconds.
To administer CBD oil sublingually, slightly bend your head backwards, open your mouth and lift your tongue. Place the oil into the dropper and position it under your tongue. Place the preferred number of drops, close your mouth and hold the oil under there. You can swallow the residue.
Manufacturers make tinctures by infusing a carrier oil with any preferred form of CBD. When you take a tincture sublingually, the CBD bypasses the digestive system. It is transported to the bloodstream through the mucous membranes, directly availing the CBD oil to the body in a few minutes.
CBD oil is very versatile, and you can use it in various treats, including gummies and hard candy. Have fun whipping up your gummies at home, even with minimal cooking skills. You only need a few ingredients and CBD oil of your choice. Get recipes like the one we share here, and you are all set to enjoy delicious homemade CBD gummies in a few minutes.
They are easy to bring along when you are travelling. One can take gummies throughout the day to give you a boost as you need. Do not worry if you can not make them yourself, as you can buy CBD gummies of your choice.
Infuse CBD oil in butter that you will use to make various pastries such as cookies, muffins, cupcakes, among the many baked goods available. With minimal baking skills, CBD infused butter is straightforward, and you will be on your way to enjoying your treats.
When baking with CBD oil, infusing it with butter makes it easier for your body to digest and absorb. But you can also add a few drops of CBD oil to your barter if you do not want to make CBD butter.
Add oomph to any drink by infusing it with CBD oil. On a hot summer day, add CBD oil to that refreshing cold drink and quench your thirst while taking your daily dose of CBD. Add CBD oil-infused butter to your morning cup of coffee for that extra kick in the morning. Dutch-style coffee will give you a refreshing start to your day.
Add a few drops of CBD oil to your smoothie to mask the oil taste and enjoy any time of the day. You can also make an alcoholic infused drink by adding CBD oil to your wine, rum, or beer. Any favourite drink of your choice will do.
CBD oil can be added to almost any dish, sauce, or drink. Allowing you plenty of creativity and freedom. The only precaution to keep in mind is that CBD loses its potency if exposed to high temperatures. If a recipe calls for temperatures above 315F, lower the temperature but cook for longer.
Vaping CBD is one of the most effective ways to use this supplement. When you inhale CBD using a vape device, it reaches the bloodstream in a few minutes. But the effects also fade in a very short time. It's worth noting that it's not healthy to inhale CBD oil. Fortunately, there are CBD oils specifically designed for vaping. Ensure the label clearly says it is for vaping and safe to inhale.
CBD oil topicals such as rubs and balms provide an excellent way to get the effects of CBD oil in a targeted area. It is often blended with oils such as coconut oils and beeswax, making them easy to apply.
Ingested CBD oil takes some time before it makes it to the bloodstream as it has to go through the digestive system.
Ensure you buy quality CBD oil to get the most benefits. As a consumer, there are a few things that you can do to get the most of your CBD oil.
When you take that first step and buy a bottle of quality CBD oil, ensuring you get the most from your oil is the next logical step. Storing your oil correctly is crucial in protecting its potency. Do not expose it to sunlight, heat, and humidity, as they are CBD oil’s biggest enemies.
Experts advise having dedicated storage space. A cabinet or drawer in the living room or bedroom should do. Cover your bottle of CBD oil with aluminium foil when travelling for the best results. In addition, keep your CBD oil bottle closed to prevent contaminants from spoiling your oil.
How do you determine the correct dose for you?
Many factors affect CBD dosing, such as body weight, age, gender, among others. Due to these considerations, you need to find and stick to the optimum dosage that only suits you. To find this optimum dose, you need to experiment with various amounts until you reach your sweet spot.
To do this, experts recommend you start with the lowest dose for your body weight and age group. Consistently take this for a week and ensure you record how you feel daily. Evaluate and adjust accordingly depending on how you feel.
Once you find your optimum dose, be consistent in taking the CBD oil for the best results. With time you may notice this amount may not be as effective. This is because the body becomes used to this dose, and you may need to adjust it upwards.
There are many ways to take CBD oil, including sublingual, edibles, topicals, and vapes. The choice ultimately depends on the individual. There is no right or wrong way to take CBD oil as long as it gets to the body. Some methods, such as sublingual avail CBD to the body quickly, while others, like edibles – take longer because of the digestive process.
When you are on the journey to find your optimum dose, exercise patience and consistency for the best results. Stick with your optimum dose for the best results. Buy your CBD oil from reputable suppliers to get the best quality and value for your money.
]]>Many people considered the interest in CBD to be a fad and never thought it would sustain this long. But in actuality, its popularity continues to grow. Every day, more people pick up a bottle of CBD oil or any other form of CBD and begin their journey with the supplement. But as always, there are questions. Many consumers often want to know how long does CBD oil last.
CBD enthusiasts want to know which quantity best suits them. They also want to know if there is a way to extend the shelf life of their current bottle of CBD oil. We all want to reap the maximum benefits for every pound we spend. Read on to find answers to all these questions and more.
The simplest way to know how long the bottle you have just ordered will last is a simple calculation. Ultimately, there are two things you'll need to calculate:
On the product label, you will find the information on the total amount of CBD in milligrams. Ideally, it should be there, but if you can’t see it, check out the website for a detailed description of the product. Once you have the two figures, divide the total amount of CBD with the daily dose.
The answer is the number of days the bottle of CBD oil will last.
Assuming we have a bottle of CBD oil with a total CBD of 300mg and an individual who consumes 50mg per day.
300mg/50mg = 6 days
Remember to add up the CBD if you take it several times a day to get the daily dose. For example, if you take 10mg three times a day daily - 30mg. Also, you should not exceed the recommended daily dose of 70mg.
You may not have many choices when it comes to CBD oil bottle sizes, as most come in the 30ml bottle. The quantity that varies widely is the amount of CBD in each bottle. You can find some containing as low as 250mg, while others may go as high as 3000mg.
Experts recommend beginners to begin with the low concentration CBD oil and low dose. You can calculate based on your weight and start from there. Experimentation is key in finding your optimum dose. Take the same dose for a week and record how you feel daily. Make necessary adjustments if need be.
To make these calculations, you need the number of days you want the oil to last and your daily dosage. By multiplying the two, you will have the quantity that you need to buy. For instance, if you need the CBD oil to last 15 days and you take a maximum of 20mg daily. Then;
15days * 50mg = 750mg,
You will require 750mg of CBD.
Now that you know how to calculate the amounts you need, let’s find out how long before the bottle you bought last year goes bad.
Buying CBD oil in bulk can be very cost-effective, and because you are using it daily, it makes sense. Most CBD products except edibles are viable for 14-24 months. CBD oil does not go bad in the usual sense, but it loses its efficacy. You can slow or speed up this degradation depending on how you take care of it.
Certain conditions, like exposure to sunlight and heat, can shorten the shelf life of your CBD oil so that you can enjoy the maximum benefits for the longest time. Using CBD oil past its expiry date is not harmful to you, but the CBD may not be effective.
But if your CBD oil smells funny, it has probably gone bad, which is rare - but it can happen. Do not take CBD oil in this case. CBD oil packed in dark green or amber bottles lasts longer. Science has proven that the colours protect the contents of the bottle from UV rays.
The choice of carrier oil also plays an essential factor in the shelf life of CBD oil. CBD oil using coconut MCT carrier oil lasts longer than those that use hemp as a carrier oil. Also, some additives may reduce the shelf life of CBD oil. The quality of CBD oil also matters, with low-quality oils having a reduced shelf life.
Another factor that determines how long CBD oil lasts is storage conditions.
Though darkened bottles are favoured as they preserve the potency of CBD oil, you also need to store it under the right conditions to reduce speedy degradation. By following these simple instructions, you can extend the shelf life of your CBD oil.
The best place to store CBD oil is a cool, dark place. A cabinet or drawer in the bedroom is an ideal place away from sunlight. Avoid window sills at all costs.
Keep CBD oil away from heat. You can refrigerate, but it is not a must. Avoid places near oven and radiator as the temperatures around are high; the ideal temperature is about 250C
Oxidation also leads to degradation. To prevent it, keep the container tightly closed. Reduce the time you expose the CBD oil to the air when you are using it. Always keep the oil in an upright position.
Excess moisture and humidity are not good for CBD oil. Bathrooms and kitchens are not suitable as the risk of exposure to water are high.
If you live in an area that experiences high temperatures and sunlight, do not store your CBD oil in the car.
When you travel with your CBD oil, wrap it with aluminium foil to protect it from light.
On the product label or the CBD oil bottle, you will find an expiry date. The expiry date shows the time which the CBD oil loses its potency. However, the oil is not necessarily bad. Taking it is not dangerous for your body.
But, unless you are dealing with pure 100% CBD carrier oil and other additional additives added to CBD oil, it may spoil within that period. Additives may go bad because of the extended time, and it is wise to use the oil before the expiry period.
Also, when buying, check the manufacturing date to avoid products that have been sitting for a long time.
When you store CBD oil at room temperature in the right conditions, it will remain potent for 24 months. However, if you expose it to sunlight, heat, or moisture, you reduce the efficacy significantly. Experts recommend using CBD oil before the best before date.
The fridge provides a cool dark environment for storing CBD oil. It is especially favourable if you live in a humid climate. The refrigerator can extend the shelf life of CBD oil for one to ten months. This is because it prevents the CBD oil from degrading as quickly.
Buying oil in bulk is very cost-effective, and you can freeze the oil for longer storage. Most CBD oil freezes without problems, but your suppliers will advise you better if you are unsure. But while it is okay for long-term storage, it is not suitable for everyday use as you have to keep thawing.
You can calculate the amount of CBD oil you require for a specific period and buy the oil in bulk. This is very cost-effective, and you can store the extra oil. When kept in favourable conditions, the CBD oil should keep for one to two years. You can check the expiry date of your CBD oil on the label or from the supplier’s website.
To extend the shelf life of your CBD oil, keep it in a cool, dark place away from moisture. The best places to store your CBD oil are in a drawer, cabinet, or cupboard in the bedroom or living room. The kitchen and bathroom are tricky because of the presence of moisture and heat.
Ensure you buy your CBD oil from credible suppliers, as quality also impacts the shelf life.
]]>The number of people that are using CBD has rapidly been increasing over the years. Companies are constantly under pressure to produce innovative over-the-counter solutions for the public. So far, they have not been disappointed.
CBD oil comes in many forms, and while the law is clear about cannabis in most places, it is a bit hazy where CBD is involved.
In our latest post, we will clarify is CBD oil legal in the UK.
CBD is one of the many cannabinoids present in the cannabis plant. Manufacturers infuse the cannabinoid with a carrier oil such as olive or coconut oil to make CBD oil. Quality CBD oil is considered safe, and it will not get you high. The cannabinoid responsible for getting one high is THC. CBD extract is sourced from industrial hemp which only contains the allowable amounts of THC.
The more you understand CBD, you'll realise it comes in three different forms, namely:
Full-spectrum contains the full profile of the hemp plant, including THC and other cannabinoids, flavonoids, and terpenes. Broad-spectrum is full-spectrum minus the THC, while isolate is pure CBD and nothing else.
Any CBD product needs to meet the following criteria in addition to less than 0.3% THC to qualify as legal here in the UK.
Before any substance can be sold as a medicine, it has to undergo extensive research and testing. CBD oil has not gone through such, and as a result, you can not market it as medicine. CBD oil is sold as a supplement.
Contents of 0.3% THC guidelines are more for growers than finished products, and they help choose the best plant varieties to cultivate. CBD oil in any packaging should not exceed 1mg of controlled substances such as THC, THCV, and CBN.
The reasoning behind this is to ensure legal CBD does not become a source of controlled substances such as THC and CBN. Whether in combination with other active components or not, you should ensure the controlled substances cannot be readily extracted using available means or are in amounts that are a risk to your health.
The law requires that you acquire certification if you deal with novel foods, and CBD oil was classified as such. The process is involving, lengthy, and very expensive. But if you want to operate within the legal limits and your products to remain on the shelves, you should have made the application by March 31st, 2021, for consideration.
Going by the FSA guidelines, a novel food is:
The third guideline is the reason CBD oil finds its way to the list of novel foods. When a food lands on this list, you cannot sell it without first getting approval. CBD was placed on the novel food several months ago.
The hemp plant has been around for a long time, and as such, it is not the plant that is novel but rather the current extraction methods. The supercritical CO2 extraction method is the reason CBD is on this list.
CBD edibles include any form of CBD that passes the mouth, such as:
The certification is a consumer protection mechanism.
Making an application and subsequent approval is lengthy and expensive, which may negatively impact small businesses. But this is good news to the users because it only means that whatever they encounter on shelves or online stores is vetted according to the required standards. If they can’t, then a premarket approval safety assessment will do.
All products, whether new or already on the shelf must be certified.
All who are involved in bringing CBD oil to the market is affected. From the farmer, supplier, manufacturer, and retailers, they should send their application.
Once you make the application, it takes approximately 18 months before it is reviewed and cleared. The application can be validated or declined, depending on the results of the risk assessment that is carried out.
If you are not validated or your application is incomplete, you cannot sell your products in the meantime. You will have to wait unless there is litigation and an order to sell has been given.
The significant factor here is consumer safety. They will check how the hemp is grown, extracted, and manufactured. You are expected to show evidence of the safety of the process and ingredients.
In addition, they will also check the toxicology report. It shows all the active components in the finished product and how each affects the consumer.
The whole process may be uncomfortable for manufacturers and retailers, but it is geared towards ensuring safety for the consumer. This safety is in terms of quality products and safe processes being followed.
Previously, there was no certification required to engage in any CBD oil supply chain stage, but as of 2021, things have taken a positive turn for the end-user. The extra checks mean they are much more protected.
Reports show some traders are misleading consumers through labels. Testing random samples revealed that some CBD oil contained lower amounts of CBD than indicated others went as far as having controlled substances in illegal quantities.
Every retailer should have a certificate of analysis for each batch of products. Go for those that are the third party tested as they tend to be more genuine. If they can’t produce proof of third-party tests, don't deal with them.
As things stand currently, the law is hazy though things are beginning to look up this year. Laws governing Cannabis are clear and straightforward, unlike CBD. Due to the haziness, a lot of unscrupulous traders have been taking advantage of unsuspecting consumers.
Some of the ills bedevilling the CBD industry are mislabelling and dangerous ingredients found in the products randomly tested. Without a proper chain of command, it becomes confusing to dish out the consequences of not following the rules.
Is CBD legal in the rest of the world?
EU guidelines allow CBD that is extracted from industrial hemp and contains no more than 0.2% THC. But some countries like Slovakia and Lithuania classify CBD as illegal. Before travelling with CBD within Europe, check if the county you are headed to allows CBD.
In the US, CBD that contains no more than 0.3% THC is legal on a federal level. Thirty-one states have gone ahead and legalised medical cannabis, and an additional 11 states have legalised recreational cannabis.
CBD is illegal in most of Asia except for India, where THC content should be no more than 0.3%. In Japan, it is allowed but with a medical prescription.
Most African countries do not allow CBD in any form. Except for South Africa. But there is a limit of 20mg per day dosage, and they do not allow advertising of CBD products.
Though most countries are beginning to vary their laws on CBD, only in Uruguay can you buy and sell CBD freely? You will have to do due diligence for the other countries before travelling with your CBD.
In Australia, you can only buy CBD with a medical prescription. Similarly, in New Zealand, you should have a prescription from a specialist.
The answer to this question is yes, CBD is legal in the UK. But it has to be within the legal framework provided by the government. Every package must not contain more than 1mg of THC. Starting this year, you will need certification to operate any business dealing with CBD. The legal status of CBD in other countries varies, and it is prudent you do a specific search to get the correct details before travelling. Read more on the legality of CBD oil in the UK.
]]>If there’s something that CBD takers love to do, it's to stock a variety of CBD-laced products. So if you want to gift a CBD lover something, any CBD product you see on the shelf is good. However, you want to put some thought into what you give a loved one. That’s why we’ve come up with this CBD gift guide.
CBD is a hot trend in the supplements and skincare world, with many users sharing positive experiences and reviews. Because it is natural, many want to share the cannabinoid with friends and loved ones. Although there are so many CBD products out there such as CBD oils, creams, balms, and vapes, what may be perfect for your athlete friend may not be suitable for your big sister.
We begin with some important considerations you need to make before picking a CBD gift for someone.
With so many CBD products on the market, it is understandable to feel overwhelmed when picking a gift for a loved one. But by making a few considerations, you can easily make the right choice and get a perfect gift that your loved one will appreciate.
You should ask yourself how you want the CBD gift give to fit in the person's life. For example, if the intended receiver travels quite often, a compact, well-packaged product that is easy to take on the go will be perfect for them. You want a form of CBD that is easy to store and convenient to take, even in the most unconventional situations.
CBD capsules, oral drops, and tablets are excellent gifts for such a person, while CBD balms will make perfect gifts for workout enthusiasts. The soothing effect of the balm is a welcome relief as part of any post-recovery routine. The only way to be sure you get lovely CBD gifts is by analysing the person's interests and lifestyle to pick what suits them best.
Most people wouldn't wish to consume THC because its accumulation in the system can return a drug test positive. Unless they ask for CBD with THC or you are sure they already use THC laced products, you should not buy full-spectrum CBD for them.
The good news is that there are many products that contain CBD isolate. It is the purest form of CBD out there. You can also gift broad-spectrum CBD products because they contain all the other cannabinoids and terpenes except for THC.
The way CBD interacts with a body system is unique for everyone. So, the effects of CBD differ from one individual to the next. While one person may feel the intended effects immediately, another person may take a while before noticing any difference. The same applies to the dosage. There is no standard dose though there are some guidelines one can follow to get what's right for them.
Vaping has a higher bioavailability than ingesting meaning more CBD makes it to the bloodstream when vaped than when consumed by mouth. But the effects do not last as long. Ask yourself is it better to give them a vape, or would the long-lasting effects of an edible suit them more.
There are several methods of taking CBD, such as inhaling, sublingual, topical, and ingesting, among others. Each comes with its advantages and disadvantages. The individual's needs and personal preferences are the driving force behind the preferred method of taking CBD.
Some like sublingual and vaping take a short time before the CBD peaks in the system while ingesting produces effects lasting longer than the two. The topical application works on a targeted area. Before buying the intended gift, find out the mode the person uses or is most likely to use.
When buying CBD products, you need to ensure they are of high quality. Like other products, you need to carry out due diligence to know the company you are buying from. Do they have third-party test results? Is what is on the label present in the product? Where do they source their raw materials, and how are their processing methods?
The supplier should answer these questions before purchasing from a particular supplier, as the answers determine how effective and pure the product is. You also need to be very careful where you are buying CBD products. Are there experts you can ask for guidance? Buy CBD products from credible suppliers willing to share third-party lab results and answer any questions you may have.

]]>In the recent past, CBD has had a lot of buzz about its value in the recreational, supplement, and medicinal worlds and a growing interest from people all over the world including the UK. There are still many studies on its components and questions from people wanting to know more. One of the common questions is “what is the difference between Indica and Sativa?”
Cannabis has several species, Cannabis Indica and Cannabis Sativa are some of the most common. Coming from the same family, these two species have many similar features. If you are new to these plants, you wouldn’t tell the difference. But these two have unique differences, some of which we know of while others are still being researched by plant specialists.
We can also call Cannabis Indica and Cannabis Sativa strains of Cannabis. In this post, we explain the differences that exist between the two including their effects and find out which one is used for CBD.
The names Indica and Sativa trace their origin back to the 18th Century. The names were used to describe the strains of the Cannabis plant. Sativa was used to describe hemp plants that were grown in Western Eurasia and Europe where it was planted to generate seeds and fibre.
On the other hand, Indica described a Cannabis strain that was mostly grown in India. The growers in India used it to produce fibre, hashish, and seeds.
It’s important to note that these terms were coined only when people discovered the plants. Otherwise, they existed before the 18th century. Also, there are thousands of other strains that originate from these two species of cannabis. Most of the cannabis varieties we know come from the Cannabis Indica.
With modern science, we are able to combine Indica and Sativa to get hybrids of the different stains. Hybrids are unique and new species that result from the mixing of different species of cannabis plants.
To quickly figure out the differences between Indica and Sativa, it’s helpful to identify plants with how they look. And so, features like height, the patterns in branching, and the shape of the leaves come in handy for a regular person. These differences come about because of people breeding varieties of this plant, while some evolve in varied adaptations and geographic isolation.
The Sativa we know today is tall and has narrow leaves. They are commonly known as hemp plants and often produce fibre, seeds, and CBD.
On the other hand, Indica is more sturdy and has broad leaves. Their stalks are woody and not laced with fibres like Sativa. These plants also tend to grow faster than cannabis Sativa plants.
Different strains of the cannabis plant tend to contain similar compounds. What differentiates them is the percentage of individual compounds. Here are some of the contents available in the different strains of cannabis:
Cannabinoids are the compounds present in various strains of cannabis plants. On top of the list is cannabidiol (CBD) and Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). If you are a CBD products enthusiast, chances are you have heard of these two compounds. We discuss them quite a lot in most of the posts in our blog.
Research shows that there are hundreds of Cannabinoids (more than 144 of them). These compounds work differently in the human body. By looking at Cannabis Sativa or Cannabis Indica, you can’t tell the amount of each cannabinoid in it. THC and CBD however are the most prevalent and important parts to most people.
This is the part of the cannabis plant that causes the user to feel a high owing to the psychoactive properties it has. Most people assume that all products produced from these plants contain this compound and would cause intoxication. But that’s not the case. Some strains of CBD have a higher count of THC than others. THC is illegal in most places around the world but in places like the UK.
CBD is a compound extract from the different strains of cannabis. Unlike THC, it does not intoxicate users. CBD is legal in many jurisdictions around the world because of the benefits it comes with to the user. This compound is infused in a range of products to make CBD laced things like edibles, topical, oils, sprays, vape juice, among others.
There are special molecules that are responsible for the pungent aromas of Indica and Sativa. These molecules are known as terpenes and are similar in many ways to the cannabinoids cannabidiol (CBD) and Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). It’s the terpenes that determine which strain a particular cannabis plant is.
One of the top terpenes is myrcene. If this compound is more than 0.5% the strain is an Indica. If myrcene is less than 0.5% then that plant is a Sativa strain.
When terpenes and cannabinoids work together they cause what is commonly known as the entourage effect theory. This theory states that when compounds from the cannabis plant work together, they become more effective at their targeted purpose. That’s why broad-spectrum CBD and full-spectrum CBD tend to be more effective than isolate CBD for some people. You can find CBD in the three forms below.
Broad-spectrum CBD is a type of CBD that contains cannabinoids, terpenes, and all the other compounds present in the cannabis Sativa plant except THC. Most people prefer isolate CBD and broad-spectrum CBD, especially if they take drug tests often. Taking broad-spectrum CBD comes with the entourage effect.
Full-spectrum CBD - This type of CBD contains the whole profile of the cannabis Sativa plant including THC. However, for this product to be legally available in the UK, it must contain not more than 0.03% of THC. You want to avoid taking full-spectrum CBD products if you take regular drug tests. Extended use of THC, even in small amounts accumulates in the bloodstream and may turn up positive in drug tests.
Cannabis Indica contains more CBD content than Cannabis Sativa but the ratio of CBD to THC is almost equal (It’s close to 1:1). This cannabis species comes with a lot of variations and new strains that are grown with varying goals in mind. Cross-breeding could be done to raise the amount of CBD or THC in the outcoming variant. Some of the popular strains of Indica include:
Cannabis Sativa may be low on CBD content compared to Indica but it’s what is often used to make CBD. CBD is the most prominent compound in Sativa. Those that are commercially available in the UK should contain 0.03% or less THC. Even in situations where THC contents rise above this figure, the manufacturer has to process it further into the allowed amounts. You’ll often hear people call Sativa the hemp plant.
There are many Sativa strains out there and you’ll find them in various places depending on what people like. Some of these include:
As mentioned earlier, there are cannabis plants that result from a combination of different strains of the plant. We call these hybrids. A hybrid will contain features of the parent plant and so, the farmer observes the characters of specific plants and then grows a hybrid of the two.
There are Indica/Sativa hybrids particularly grown for medicinal purposes. This mix is said to offer alert mellowness, which is said to be useful to get rid of discomfort. Strains that have more characters of Indica are called “Indica-dom” (dom meaning dominant). Those that have more Sativa characteristics are known as Sativa-dom.
The differences between Indica and Sativa are not that significant because they are strains of the same plant. Even though both Indica and Sativa contain CBD contents, Cannabis Sativa is what’s responsible for most of the CBD products you can get in the UK. The reason is simple, the ratio of CBD against THC in Sativa is much higher, which makes the manufacturing of CBD easier and with accurate measurements of the compounds.
]]>CBD chocolate is becoming a top favourite for many CBD users, our CBD gummies being a very popular edible. Chocolate lovers describe the experience of the delicious dessert melting in your mouth as heavenly, and what better way to enjoy your daily intake of CBD than this.
Companies have taken notice and already shelve numerous commercial CBD chocolates on the market. If you enjoy making your edibles at home, bath bombs for example - then CBD chocolate is among the easiest. With just a few supplies and ingredients available in the kitchen, you can make yourself this delicious treat.
In this post, we will show you all the tips and tricks to making irresistible CBD chocolate. But first, what exactly is this?
Just like the name suggests, it is chocolate infused with CBD. These are the most common ways of consuming CBD:
CBD edibles are also a very discreet method of taking CBD. Nobody will look at you twice when you enjoy a delicious piece of chocolate, but other methods such as vaping do not have the same effect.
CBD is sold in either of these three forms:
Each of these can be infused with chocolate to make CBD chocolate. When buying CBD chocolate, always ensure you confirm from the list of ingredients which form of CBD has been used. Full-spectrum CBD contains trace amounts of THC, while isolate and broad-spectrum do not carry any THC.
Full-spectrum and broad-spectrum have the entire chemical profile of the hemp plant while isolate is pure CBD without any additives. CBD chocolate infuses with CBD like any other form of oil. All it comes down to is the choice depending on your personal tastes. Though we need to indicate that even trace amounts of CBD may compound in the body over time which, may show up during a drug test.
Infusing CBD into your chocolate is simply a delightful and tasty way to get your dose of CBD. If you wish to take unflavoured CBD oil but can’t stomach the taste, why don’t you mask it by infusing it with chocolate?
Making your infused chocolate is easy, and you're not required to have exceptional cooking skills. You only need a few minutes of your time, and your tasty sweet is ready. At room temperature, CBD chocolate does not melt, making it reasonably easy to carry around.
The temptation to eat all of the CBD chocolate you make is going to be very high. But you have to resist and eat only your daily recommended dosage. A bar of chocolate is subdivided into squares or any unit depending on the mould you are using. The first thing we have to determine is how much CBD is in each square.
Assuming you need each unit to have 10mg of CBD. If you have a total of 15 units, then you need:
15 units * 10mg = 150mg
You will need to use 150mg of CBD to make your chocolate.
CBD oil comes in various concentrations, and it should say so on the bottle’s label. You need to determine how much CBD oil you will use, which depends on CBD in mg you require.
In our example, we need 150mg of CBD.
Let us say we buy a 30ml bottle with CBD concentration of 1500mg. Each ml of the CBD oil contains:
1500mg/30ml =50mg/ml
This means we need 3ml of our CBD oil to have 150mg.
Remember to purchase your CBD oil from reputable suppliers willing to share third-party test results. Like with other supplements, please take only the amount you need. It is recommended you should not exceed 75mg.
Making your own at home does not require much. Homemade chocolate is less expensive, you can even add more healthy ingredients to personalise it to your liking. You will need a double boiler but do not worry if you don’t have one as we will show you how to improvise.
For a quick CBD chocolate recipe, you can melt your chocolate of choice in a double boiler and add CBD oil after it’s melted. Keep stirring to make sure they mix well. Pour into the moulds and freeze or put in the fridge until it hardens.
We will be using CBD-infused butter, which is not something that you find lying idle in most kitchens. This is why we begin by making CBD-infused butter.
To make a DIY double boiler, you need to fill a large pot/saucepan with water and place a heatproof dish on top. There should be no contact between the dish and the water.
While the methods above are basic, you may do a few things to deepen your experience.
A neat trick that will increase the bioavailability of CBD chocolate is to place a piece of chocolate under your tongue and let it melt. When CBD chocolate mixes with saliva, it bypasses the liver and digestive system. This way, more of it gets to your body.
Should you choose to use your CBD chocolate in making other dishes remember, the potency of CBD denatures at temperatures higher than 3500F. Choose dishes that do not call for high temperatures or lower the cooking temperature and cook for longer.
CBD chocolate is a yummy and delicious way to enjoy your daily dose of CBD. While many CBD chocolates are available in the market, it is cheaper to make them at home. It is easy, and it does not require any fancy equipment—just basic skills and usual kitchen utensils. You also get to customise the CBD chocolate by adding whatever ingredients you so desire. You can enjoy the delicious treat, but always remember to refrain from eating all of it at once. Follow your recommended daily dose.
]]>If you are planning to start taking CBD and have decided that CBD capsules is the right option for you, it’s important to learn how to take them. Often you’ll have two things to consider – the effects you desire and what dosage is right for you. We have put together this “how to take CBD capsules” guide to help both beginners and the more experienced to take their capsules with confidence and in a way that’s beneficial to them.
Each individual processes CBD capsules differently depending on a number of factors. These factors include genetics, lifestyle, metabolism, among others. It’s therefore critical that you get a dosage that’s just right for your personal needs. If you are a novice, then beginning at the bottom (with the lowest dosage) is the best way to go. Start small then gradually increase your dosage based on your personal preference.
So what’s the right amount? The “right dosage” for you is what you require from taking CBD. When you feel your dosage has met your requirements, then stop there. For newbies, we recommend taking 20mg spread throughout the day. If you have been taking CBD already, do not exceed 70mg per day.
For those who are taking CBD as a prescription, only take what the medical practitioner recommended. If you want to increase your dosage, consult with your medical professional first.
There’s no “best time” to take CBD capsules except what you find comfortable. Think of taking CBD as a self-care routine. So it is important to note that it’s more convenient and easier to remember at specific points during the day. Here’s what to expect from taking CBD capsules during different times of the day.
Here is something you should know about CBD capsules – they take a while before they can digest. Compared to other methods like sublingual or vaping, the CBD will take a while longer to enter your system.
Using CBD capsules is simple. You just need to swallow them whole using water. Knowing your dose helps here too so if you need to take two capsules, take two. The good thing is that if you've taken pills such as paracetamol, aspirin or ibuprofen before, this is no different.
Again, remember to monitor your dosage so you are getting your recommended dosage. Should you need to increase the dosage – increase it gradually and make sure to take note of how much.
Some people enjoy their CBD by breaking the capsules. CBD capsules are breakable just like a regular prescription but before you break yours, be sure you understand what is contained in them. Depending on the manufacturer, some capsules are filled with a powder while others have it in liquid form (oil). Be careful not to spill whatever is contained within.
Another issue you might face is the taste of the contents. The taste depends on the type of CBD used and the additional ingredients added to it. Isolate CBD is tasteless and won’t taste as bad as broad-spectrum CBD and full-spectrum CBD. That’s because isolate CBD is the purest form of CBD.
You should never take CBD products that are already open or broken to avoid unprecedented risks. Always make sure your products are well sealed to be sure they are in the best condition.
Isolate CBD:
Isolate CBD is the purest form of CBD you can get out there. It contains 99.9% of CBD and no other compound or plant material is in it.
Broad-spectrum CBD:
Broad-spectrum CBD contains all of the compounds you get in the cannabis Sativa plant except for Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the intoxicating compound in the plant. Broad-spectrum and isolate CBD capsules are the best choices for those looking to pass drug tests.
Full-spectrum CBD:
Full-spectrum CBD contains all the compounds present in the Cannabis Sativa plant including THC. But for CBD capsules to be legal in the UK, they must contain 0.3% or less of this intoxicating compound. Taking these capsules won’t cause a high to the use but when used for an extended period, blood tests may turn out positive for it.
CBD capsules and oil may have their differences but that does not mean one is better than the other. It all depends on what your desired results are.
CBD capsules are a very convenient option when looking for exact dosage, a longer shelf life, and tastelessness. But you have to bear with the fact that they take longer to digest and get absorbed into your system. That’s because they go through dissolving before they enter the bloodstream.
On the other hand, CBD oil absorbs fast meaning you can customise the dosing almost immediately and comes at a cheaper price most of the time. But you'll have to stand the flavour and taste which can be difficult to get an exact dosage – not to mention they are less convenient in public.
However, you can still get capsules that contain CBD oil on the inside. With these the CBD does not go through the mouth membranes as when you use tinctures; it goes to the stomach first before reaching your bloodstream.
Some CBD users have had success by taking both the capsules and oil. Most of our buyers use their oil at home and carry around the CBD capsules to use when they are going out in public. So if you are still on the fence on which one suits you, it’s okay to use both the oil and capsules as long as you try and stick to your dosage.
CBD oils and CBD capsules are not the only CBD options you have to use. There are many other options to help handle the situation you are dealing with. For instance, you have topicals that come in creams, lotions, joint rubs, and massage oils, among others. These are applied to target places on your body.
You’ll also find edibles which include CBD gummies, chocolates, candies, among other options. Edibles can be eaten just like regular foods but you should be careful not to overdose by eating so much at once.
If you can’t find other options you can go for CBD pills. Take them in the same way you would take CBD capsules. Pills also come with similar benefits as capsules.
CBD capsules are a great format to take CBD. They are not just convenient to use, they are also quite easy to take. You just need to be sure you have quality products that have been tested and tried like what we have here are Supreme CBD. If you have any questions or concerns, reach out to us to get the best advice and a wide range of CBD products.
]]>If you are asking “what are CBD capsules?” the chances are that you may have only used one form of the many CBD products that are available. CBD can be consumed in various formats including vape juice, oil, topicals, sprays, gummies, pills, capsules, and edibles. You may have tried vaping, taking edibles, and applying vape on your skin and want to try a different method that suits your needs and one that is a more discreet way of taking CBD. That’s exactly what CBD capsules provide.
CBD capsules are a form of CBD where the compound CBD is enclosed in consumable capsules. The contents of the capsule can be CBD alone or come with additional ingredients. Capsules often make dosing CBD easier because each piece contains an exact amount of concentration. This form of CBD is swallowed by mouth and most of it is digested into the system via stomach membranes.
CBD capsules might not be as popular as other formats of taking CBD but they have a lot of advantages that other forms can’t provide. Here are a few differences to taking CBD capsules than other methods:
As mentioned earlier, CBD capsules are just one of the many formats in which you can take CBD. It’s a top favourite for people looking for ways to take their CBD without attracting attention from others nearby.
When you compare CBD capsules with oil or vape juice, you’ll realise that their bioavailability differs. Taking CBD oil and e-liquid allows your body to utilise the compounds present in the product than what you’d get from capsules.
Oil is absorbed directly into the bloodstream through the membranes in your mouth. Vape juice on the other hand gets absorbed directly into the lung membranes, taking in most of the CBD contents if vaped right. Capsules, on the other hand, are taken orally into the stomach. So they have to be digested before they are absorbed into the bloodstream. The thing is, the longer your CBD product takes before reaching the bloodstream, the lesser the CBD contents will reach into your system.
That said, if bioavailability is your main concern, then you get more value for money by taking oils sublingually and vaping e-liquids. Pills, capsules, and edibles all have lower bioavailability. You should however keep in mind that they last longer in your system when they get there.
CBD capsules are just a means of taking CBD. The capsules won’t negatively affect you in any way. Their contents may have some effect but not if the ingredients are legally sourced. CBD is a non-intoxicating extract obtained from the cannabis Sativa plant. Regardless of which type of CBD is present in the capsule, it shouldn’t cause you a high. There are three types of CBD depending on the methods used to extract it and the desired end goal. These include:
Isolate CBD is the purest form of CBD you can get out there. It contains 99.9% of CBD. This type of CBD is used in making most CBD products because it’s colourless and tasteless. There are capsules with isolate CBD as their main component.
Broad-spectrum CBD is a combination of several cannabinoids and terpenes except for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). CBD capsules made of this type of CBD and isolate CBD are the best option if you regularly take drug tests or plan to take one soon. Athletes fall in this category.
Full-spectrum CBD contains the full profile of compounds found in the cannabis Sativa plant, including THC. For full-spectrum CBD capsules to be legally available in the UK, it has to contain 0.03% THC or below. This percentage ensures your capsules are not intoxicating.
However, taking capsules with full-spectrum CBD when about to take a drug test is a bad idea. Though they won’t cause intoxication, consuming full-spectrum CBD capsules let THC accumulate in your system, which turns positive during drug tests.
CBD capsules are by no means a substitute for medication. So, you shouldn’t buy them to treat a specific health problem or illness. They are actually just food supplements meant for general wellness.
If you have tried CBD capsules but still don’t feel it's your preferred method of taking your dosage, we advise trying other formats of CBD. If your capsules are working for you but wish you could get more, you can always increase the dosage. Always dose as recommended on the packaging of your product.
CBD capsules make it very easy to dose because each capsule contains a specific amount of CBD. A good manufacturer should label what’s contained in their capsules and how much of every ingredient is in there. CBD often comes in different concentrations, so capsules of the same size don’t always mean the same concentrations. Even a smaller one may have a higher CBD concentration than the bigger ones, don’t assume things.
We always advise beginner users to start with capsules worth 20mg CBD spread through the day, then gradually increase their dosage over time. While it’s not possible to overdose on CBD capsules, it’s always wise to stick to the recommended dosage. This way, you’ll be sure to know what you are taking.
If you are trying to find the best CBD capsules online, then this advice will come in handy. Here are some of the considerations you need to have:
Before you spend your money on any CBD product, you should ensure that it’s properly labelled. The label should have a list of ingredients in the capsule and the amounts of each ingredient. Doing this helps you avoid ingredients that are not good for your body and proper dosing.
Your CBD online seller should have a document that details what their CBD capsules contain. For instance, they need to indicate the THC percentage in their product. This should be 0.3% or below for the CBD product to be legal for the UK market. This should be verified by a third-party lab test to ensure what you are getting is safe. A certificate of analysis guarantees you that the seller will deliver on their marketing promises.
A certificate of analysis should be available on demand. That means they should not have a problem sharing the test results with you. If they seem evasive, find your CBD capsules elsewhere.
If you intend to enjoy your CBD the easiest way possible, CBD capsules may be your next favourite CBD format. What you should be careful about is where you source them. ]]>When you decide to start taking CBD, you'll have to choose among the three extracts: isolates, full-spectrum, and broad-spectrum CBD. The chances that your first experience with CBD will be an isolate is high as manufacturers infuse most CBD products with CBD isolate. Manufacturers prefer CBD isolate because its production is standardised.
Unlike other forms of CBD, isolate CBD allows users to experience CBD goodness without a trace of the other cannabinoids and terpenes. Full-spectrum CBD may not cause a high but contains traces of THC. Legal hemp-derived CBD should not have more than 0.3% THC.
Sometimes due to the negativity associated with THC, some people do not want to ingest even the slightest bit of it. Others, such as athletes, avoid any trace of THC due to potential drug tests. Even legally allowed hemp-derived full-spectrum CBD may cause a false positive in your drug test results.
In this article, we'll further discuss this hemp extract and its many benefits over full and broad-spectrum CBD. We will also show you where and how you can use this product.
CBD isolate is the most basic and purest form of CBD you can get. Unlike full-spectrum, CBD isolate consists of a single cannabinoid, and it exists either as a powder or in crystalline form. One of the reasons many CBD products use this extract is because it is also tasteless and odourless, making it a favourite with manufacturers.
The process of extraction and refining results in CBD isolate that is 99% pure. This process also eliminates all the other cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids. Some manufacturers add terpenes back to the pure CBD isolate to form Terpsolate. So, beware while you are purchasing your CBD products.
It requires complex and expensive equipment to produce quality CBD isolate. The DIY crowd may produce full hemp plant extract, but isolate needs a different set of skills. Achieving the required percentage purity takes an experienced chemist.
The two extraction methods mainly used are ethanol and CO2 extraction. The resulting extract then undergoes the process of winterisation and decarboxylation to separate and activate CBD.
Because there is no chemical use, this method produces the cleanest residual-free CBD. It is considered the gold standard in the CBD manufacturing industry. An advanced laboratory and skilled chemist are required to carry out this method of extraction.
The carbon dioxide gas under pressure passes through a machine holding the plant matter. A liquid collects afterwards that contains all the cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids. The next step is to evaporate this liquid further until you end up with a crude form of full-spectrum oil.
The method does not use overly expensive equipment as compared to CO2 extraction. But one will still need to possess some skills to achieve a pure quality CBD isolate.
The first step is to soak the plant matter in alcohol. Note that this process uses only pure alcohol. When the plant remains suspended in the alcohol overnight, the alcohol absorbs the hemp plant’s entire chemical profile, resulting in alcohol-infused full-spectrum CBD.
Once you strain the plant matter, the next step is to evaporate the alcohol leaving behind the full-spectrum CBD crude oil.
Regardless of the method of extraction, the crude oil that results is the same. At this point, we isolate the CBD from the crude oil using the winterisation method. The process removes lipids and waxes from the crude oil.
By further refining by evaporation, the result is individual cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids. The refinement takes advantage of the fact that all the compounds have different evaporation points.
By using low heat and time, decarboxylation activates the CBD making it potent and ready for use. In the plant, the abundant form is usually CBDA which needs decarboxylation to become active. The final product is active CBD isolate which is 98-99.7% pure.
Depending on who you direct the question to, you will get varying answers. Some people claim the entourage effect provided by full-spectrum CBD makes it so effective, while others cannot stand THC, even the trace amounts present in this extract.
For instance, athletes who have to take drug tests constantly should avoid the full-spectrum CBD, but that does not mean they can’t enjoy CBD. You can use broad-spectrum or CBD isolate, which provides the best way for such groups of people to enjoy CBD without fear of failing a drug test.
There is no right or wrong way to enjoy CBD. It is all a matter of personal taste, and in this regard, do you and take the form you are most comfortable with.
You can use isolate CBD as a powder or crystalline form, or it may be mixed or infused with other products. Here are ways to enjoy this product.
You simply place the powder under your tongue and hold it for about sixty minutes. If there is some residue in your mouth, swallow it down with some water. Since CBD isolate is tasteless and odourless, most people tolerate it.
The sublingual method is a quick and easy method of delivering CBD to your body. The CBD peaks in the blood after fifteen minutes.
One can ingest CBD isolates in various ways. The first one is by putting the crystals in a capsule or pill and swallowing. Tablets and capsules are suitable for those who are also taking other supplements.
From sauces, soups, and dressings, you can add CBD isolate to spice up the meal. Any type of food will receive an extra kick and do not worry as it doesn’t affect its taste. You can also enjoy this extract in a smoothie or any drink for that matter.
While cooking with CBD, it’s always good to remember that it loses its potency at very high temperatures. Avoid cooking it in too much heat.
The body does not readily absorb CBD, and a neat trick to use is to infuse it to oil or butter before cooking to make it more bioavailable.
Vaping makes CBD bioavailable to your body in less than fifteen minutes. When you vape CBD passes through your lung membranes and into your bloodstream. Since you inhale the vapour directly to the lungs or through the mouth to the lungs, you can feel the effects quickly after taking the first puff.
Simply add the crystalline powder into the premade vape juice or make yourself a new batch of CBD isolate vape juice to use with your refillable vape device.
Making a topical application such as a balm or cream is easy. You only need to add CBD isolate to a base such as coconut oil and apply it to your skin. They are a great way of getting CBD to targeted areas, and you can feel the effects of CBD immediately. But you can also buy balms and other topicals containing this extract.
Some of the reasons one would choose to enjoy CBD isolate include:
Since it does not contain any THC, you do not have to worry about THC getting into your system. Always check the product’s packaging to ensure you don’t buy CBD isolate with trace amounts of THC.
Always ask for third-party test results to ensure you are getting quality CBD isolate. If a trader refuses to give you these results, run and don’t look back. Credible suppliers are always willing to share the information.
There are so many ways to take CBD to isolate powder. You can ingest or place it under the tongue, or you can use it in your cooking. Since it does not have a taste or aroma, it works for everyone.
Since it is purely CBD, you just need to measure the amount you require in mg, no calculations are necessary, and you are good. We advise you to start with a low dose, preferably 10mg if it is your first time. Stay on this dose for a few days and monitor how you feel.
So many CBD isolate products are available in the market. Here at Supreme CBD, we offer a wide variety of quality pure CBD products for you to enjoy. From tinctures, oils, vapes, and edibles, we have them all.
CBD isolate is the purest and most basic form of CBD. It requires a lot of skills and special equipment to produce a hemp plant extract that's 99% pure. This extract is odourless and tasteless, making it suitable for manufacturing CBD products like edibles, tinctures, oils, and topicals.
Thanks to its versatility, you can enjoy CBD isolate powder in so many forms. It can be ingested or taken sublingually for quicker results, or you can use it to prepare edibles for your enjoyment. The best way to prepare edibles is by infusing the CBD isolate with oil so the body can easily absorb it.
]]>Most people use a particular method of taking CBD because of how they were introduced to taking the supplement. Others settle for a particular method after trying a few and settling on their current CBD delivery mode as it's their preferred way of taking their dose. The most common methods of taking CBD include sublingual, vaping, edibles, and topical application.
Most products revolve around these four though not limited to them. For example, nasal sprays are under a different category. The most common is sublingual with CBD oil and tinctures being taken this way, but vaping is slowly gaining traction, especially among the younger generation.
In this latest post, we discuss and compare vaping CBD and the sublingual methods. Read on to find out which method is right for you.
Let us start our discussion by stating that there is no right or wrong way to take CBD. What is comfortable for you may not feel right to another person. Our advice, do what feels best for you. These two popular methods of taking CBD are similar in some aspects and differ in others, but one thing is for sure they have a higher bioavailability than most other methods.
When you take CBD in any form, depending on which method, it will vary as to when it will enter your bloodstream or digest in your body. Bioavailability is not specific to CBD but refers to the availability of a substance to the body’s cells. The higher the bioavailability, the higher the amount of the substance that makes it to the cells.
In medicine, ibuprofen has the highest bioavailability at 80%. CBD edibles have the lowest bioavailability, with vaping as the highest and sublingual coming second. Most of the research on CBD is scanty. Some of it suggests that when CBD is combined with MCT carrier oils, the bioavailability rate is highest.
But another research, though not conclusively, suggests that vaping CBD has the highest bioavailability. The reasoning behind it is because the CBD passes through the lung membranes and into the blood. It is thought to be around 50%.
One explanation for the reasons why CBD bioavailability is low is its hydrophobic nature. The human body comprises 70% water, and water-soluble substances tend to have better bioavailability. CBD performs better when it binds to fats.
But how do the two methods compare?
Vaping requires two things; a vape device and vape juice. Vape devices vaporise CBD vape juice, producing a vapour that a user will inhale through the device’s mouthpiece. The devices are very easy to use, with the most basic being the disposable devices suitable even for beginners. One does not require prior knowledge to vape successfully.
When you take a puff out, the CBD is inhaled into the lungs, diffusing into the blood. The entire process takes only a few minutes, and you should start to feel the effects within a maximum of ten minutes. Unlike ingesting CBD, vaping bypasses the digestive system, which takes a long time and has a low bioavailability.
It simply means to take a substance by placing it under the tongue. Most CBD oil and CBD tinctures come with droppers used to place the required number of drops under the tongue. You simply tilt your head back a bit and move the tongue out of the way. Some droppers come with markings showing the amount, and you can tell the exact amount before you dispense it. But if yours has no markings, follow the required number of drops.
You should not swallow immediately but hold the CBD oil under your tongue for about a minute and a half. This allows the CBD to be absorbed through the mucus membranes into the blood, bypassing the digestive system. You can swallow the residue CBD oil after the time is up or wash it down with a glass of water.
Sublingual delivery method is also a fast and efficient way of taking CBD. You end up swallowing some of the CBD, meaning some of the CBD reaches your blood through the digestive tract. This fact lowers the bioavailability as only a small percentage of ingested CBD makes it to the blood.
Both methods of delivery have a high bioavailability, but taking CBD via vaping is higher. They are efficient and suitable for anyone wishing to feel the effects of CBD immediately. Also, the effects of the CBD delivered using both methods do not last even though effects of sublingual last longer than vaping because of the ingested CBD.
The most notable difference is in how you use them. Vaping requires a device that produces the vapour you consume while sublingual does not. Sublingual mode of delivery simply requires placing your CBD under the tongue.
Vape juice is very different from the tinctures and oils that are taken sublingually. As a rule, you should only vape liquids that are designated for vaping. Vaping other substances and CBD oil is highly discouraged. Vape juice constitutes vegetable glycerine, propyl glycol, flavouring, and CBD solid.
A few factors should help you decide which is right for you. For instance, do you need to be discreet in taking CBD? Not everyone is comfortable puffing out clouds of smoke, and so vaping is not an option for such people. The sublingual method offers a discreet way of enjoying CBD, though not as discreet as taking a gummy. But compared to vaping, even if you are in public, you can excuse yourself for three minutes.
Another factor you need to consider is how long you want to feel the effects. If you are looking for continuous effects throughout the day, then both methods may not be suitable. An edible would make much more sense as its effects last for hours.
The best way is to use the two methods alternatively or combined with other methods such as edibles. Sometimes a topical may be all you need, or you may need to combine it with another method.
But you should remember that taking CBD is mostly about experimentation. Since our bodies are wired differently, our response to CBD is different. Hence before you find your optimal mode of delivery, you will have to try several methods. But when you find one or maybe a combination that works for you, stick to it. Always remember what may work for you may not work for another person.
Like most things CBD, the best way to know your optimum dose is through experimentation. We recommend starting with the lowest dose and adjusting accordingly. Once you decide on a dose, take it for a few days to a week and monitor how you feel. Do this until you feel you have your optimum dose and stick to it.
Some of the factors that affect the dosage include your body weight, how long you have been taking it, age, and gender. There are online calculators to guide you in figuring out your starting dose.
Regardless of the mode of delivery, the dosage remains the same. Both vaping and sublingual methods are not difficult to figure out the dosage since the product will indicate CBD concentration.
Vaping is an efficient method of taking CBD with very high bioavailability, the highest compared to all the other methods. You need to have a vaping device such as a pen and quality vape juice. You should never vape substances that are not meant for vaping, such as oils.
In contrast, the sublingual method does not require any devices, as the dropper that comes with the bottle is sufficient to deliver the CBD under your tongue. Some of the CBD oil, tinctures, or concentrate you take sublingually end up being ingested. It provides a boost once it is absorbed as it takes a longer time to be digested.
There is no right or wrong method to take CBD. Follow the method that works best for you. Always buy your products from quality suppliers that share their third-party lab test results.
]]>What is CBD vape juice? These days, it’s hard to find someone who is not aware of CBD with all the buzz circulating around it. The more CBD becomes popular, so too do the methods of taking it. Sublingual, edibles, topicals like lotions and creams are just some of the ways people take CBD.
Since its introduction, CBD vaping is slowly claiming a place at the top of the favourite ways of taking CBD. Thanks to its bio-availability rate, CBD vaping has gained acceptance even among the not so young. Advanced technology has simplified vaping equipment, making it easy for anyone to use.
If you are a novice, you only need a vape device and vape juice to enjoy your dose of CBD. Vape juice is specially formulated to be safe for you to inhale after the vaping device turns it into vapour.
In this post, we tell you what vape juice constitutes and answer a few questions you might have on vaping.
Vaping enthusiasts choose this method as their preferred way to take their dose of CBD. These devices vaporise a special liquid known as CBD vape juice which the user inhales. It also goes by other names such as:
Sometimes it can be mislabelled as CBD oil. You should not confuse the two as CBD vape juice does not contain oil. In fact, regular oils are not safe to inhale. Vape juice constitutes three primary ingredients, namely:
To make CBD vape juice, simply add CBD solid to the appropriate vape juice.
It is sourced from plants, and its sweet flavour balances the bitterness of glycol. The purpose of vegetable glycerine (VG) is to thicken the vaping juice. It is also irresponsible for clouds of vapour that users exhale.
It is colourless and odourless and acts as a carrier for flavouring. Propyl glycol is synthetic and safe for consumption and finds application in many industries such as cosmetics and medicine.
If you are allergic to this CBD vape component, as some people are, there are plant-based alternatives that carry the flavouring.
Our flavouring is food grade making it safe for your use. At Supreme CDB, we have various types for you to enjoy, including our fruity juice e-liquids to our Sherbert and Girl Scout Cookie flavours. But if you prefer the unflavoured CBD vape juice, go for it and enjoy the natural taste of CBD.
The solid form of CBD is mixed with vape juice to make CBD vape juice. Our hemp-derived CBD is sourced from quality strains to ensure we give you the best. You can have your CBD in either: Isolate, Full-spectrum CBD or Broad-spectrum CBD.
The ratio of vegetable glycerine to propyl glycol determines the thickness of the vape juice. CBD does not readily mix with Vegetable glycerine, so you need more propyl glycol to ensure proper mixing. That is why CBD vape juice is thinner compared to nicotine e-liquid.
Another thing you need to remember is that the percentage appearing on the package usually refers to the VG, not CBD. For the CBD concentration, check the ingredients list. Also, as mentioned, CBD vape juice does not contain oil. You should never substitute CBD vape juice with CBD oil.
After CBD is extracted from the hemp plant, we end up with different forms of CBD. All forms will give you similar CBD, and the choice depends on personal preference. We have three forms depending on the CBD used.
Full-spectrum CBD contains the entire profile of the hemp plant, including all cannabinoids, flavonoids, and terpenes. Our full-spectrum CBD has only the legal amount of THC at below 0.3%.
Since THC compounds over time, avoid it if you have to take drug tests regularly, such as athletes, because it may cause a false positive.
Broad-spectrum CBD has the complete profile of the hemp plant also but with THC removed. If you want to enjoy the benefits of all the hemp plant active compounds minus the THC, this is for you.
CBD isolate is the purest form of CBD. If you do not wish to consume any other active compound of the hemp plant, this is the way to go.
There are different types of devices, from simple disposable ones suitable for beginners to the more complicated ones for experts. Everyone is covered. We will look at all of them to help you make the right choice.
Disposable vape pens are the simplest to use and come pre-filled with CBD vape juice. They are the best choice for beginners since one does not need to adjust or add anything. Simply charge it and vape. You discard and get another one once you run through the entire amount of CBD vape juice.
These come pre-filled with CBD vape juice and are also discarded when the juice runs out. They are used with standard 510 batteries, and you just attach and use them. They are also suitable for beginners.
Refillable CBD pens comprise a tank, coil and attach to a battery. You refill the tank once the CBD juice runs out. You have more control and can even make your blend of vape juice.
Due to oxidation, the coils need to be replaced when the need arises. Some experts make their coils which is not recommended unless you know what you are doing.
All vape devices are not equal. Using CBD vape juice with big tank sub-ohm devices results in a lot of waste as it is thin, and you may even end up with leaks. They are more suited for nicotine e-liquid, which is thicker.
If you vape nicotine and CBD, you should have a dedicated vape device for each, as it is counterproductive to mix them. Nicotine is a stimulant, while CBD has the opposite effect.
CBD vapes are easy and convenient to use. They are appealing to more people because of the ease of use. It takes only a few minutes for the CBD to reach the bloodstream. Another reason to opt for CBD via other methods is the amount of CBD that makes it to the blood is slightly more than 50%.
In contrast, if you take CBD edibles such as CBD gummies, you will have to wait for the body to complete the digestion process. It takes anywhere from one and a half to two hours before CBD enters your system.
The sublingual method also makes the CBD bioavailable as quickly as vaping. A decent amount of CBD also makes its way to the body when you take it sublingually. Applying CBD topically through balms and creams works immediately but only works on targeted areas.
Dosing CBD is unique for each person. It depends on several factors, such as body weight metabolism and the strength of the product you are taking. You can use your weight to determine your starting dose if you don’t have a doctor’s recommendation.
We advise starting with a low dosage and low concentration product. Depending on your requirements, subtly increase the dosage until you are satisfied.
At Supreme CBD, we pride ourselves on providing our customers with quality CBD products at all costs, and that is why we do not put filler substances in our products. You will never find chemicals such as vitamin E acetate in our CBD vape juice. This chemical causes lung problems when vaped. Avoid vape juices that contain vitamin E acetate.
All our products are third-party tested for your peace of mind and quality assurance. We have various flavours in stock for you to choose from and enjoy quality without any worries.
CBD vape juice is used with a vape device to deliver your daily dose of CBD with ease and quickly. You don’t need prior knowledge to use vape devices. Disposable vape pens and cartridges come prefilled with CBD vape juice for your convenience. Have a dedicated vape device for CBD if you also vape nicotine e-liquid.
CBD vape juice primarily constitutes vegetable glycerine, propyl glycol, CBD, and flavouring though flavours are optional. Vape juice can have full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, and isolate. The choice is influenced by personal preference. Check the ingredients list on your packaging label to ensure the product you have is for vaping and does not contain any oil.

We recommend using the number of CBD gummies that correspond to your dose and soaking them in alcohol. The alcohol should be an amount you can finish. The CBD gummies take about 8 hours to infuse when left at room temperature. If you over-infuse the CBD gummies, you will end up with a gelatinous liquified mass.
But if you infuse for seven to eight hours, the gummies lose their firm chew and take on jelly, squishy texture. Be forewarned the CBD gummies can be very strong. Bonus tip: you can use any of our CBD gummies from our CBD gummy bears and rings to our gummy worms and bottles!
To make tasty chocolate CBD gummies, you will need;
You can add CBD gummies to any cocktail to make it more refreshing. They are straightforward to make and only need an ice tray and CBD gummies.
Place the CBD gummies in the ice tray. And pour cold water over the CBD gummies and freeze. Though hot water produces clear ice cubes, it may not work with CBD gummies as they will melt if you pour it over them.

]]>How is CBD oil made? This is just one of the many questions curious CBD users frequently ask. As more and more individuals try out this supplement, the more people pose questions to understand its origin, how it’s used, and any similarities it may have compared with cannabis Sativa.
Before understanding how CBD is made, let’s first know what it is because so many people confuse it with other things (some related, others unrelated to it). CBD is an acronym that stands for cannabidiol. It’s one of the hundreds of chemical compounds you’ll get in the hemp and cannabis Sativa plants. In its original form, you can add to other products to make topicals, edibles, oils, vape juices, and smoking products.
The CBD consumed in the UK is different from cannabis although they are all forms of cannabis. If extracted with all the other compounds from the cannabis plant, CBD should contain 0.03% of THC or less by law. THC is an acronym for tetrahydrocannabinol and is the intoxicating substance found in cannabis (which contains more than 0.03%).
CBD comes from a plant known as hemp. Like every other form of gardening plants, the process begins by sowing seeds into the ground, and just like any other plant – the ground has to be well-prepped to get healthy hemp plants. That means testing the soil for herbicides, adding fertilizer and taking care of the plant as it grows. From the moment you plant to the time you harvest, it will be about two months or so.
Before getting your hemp plant harvested, there are tests for each plant to ensure the chemical compounds is according to the government regulations. Apart from checking for THC levels, these plants are checked to ensure they don’t have heavy metals and pesticides. The plants are then taken out of the ground to be dried in a properly ventilated area for about a month (a process known as curing). The important parts (flowers where there’s a high concentration of cannabinoids) are stripped from the plant for extraction.
At the extraction stage, CBD is separated from the hemp plant into a usable form. This process can happen using different methods. These methods come with advantages and disadvantages. So it’s up to the manufacturer to decide which one to use. Each method results in CBD with slight differences. Here are the most common extraction processes.
Ethanol extraction is one of the simplest and most effective CBD extraction methods out there. It’s safe as well as time-efficient. The process involves soaking the plant materials into high-grain alcohol (ethanol) to separate cannabinoids from the plant. This method can happen in any temperature condition (warm or cold). The process happens faster than other methods like CO2 extraction. The extraction that comes out of the ethanol extraction process often ends up in people’s vaping devices. Some of it goes into other CBD-infused products.
The downside of the ethanol extraction process is the fact that it destroys the plant waxes which might be useful.
As the name suggests, this process makes use of carbon dioxide to separate cannabinoids from the hemp material. It makes use of the ability for CO2 to be useful as a gas, liquid, and solid. This popular CBD extraction process requires extremely low temperatures and so you should have super-cooled extraction chambers to be successful.
This process begins in the first chamber with a solid piece of CO2. This is then pumped into a second chamber that has the hemp plant material. At this stage, CO2 is in liquid form to absorb the flavours and oils present in the plant material. This then flows to the third chamber where CO2 becomes a gas to evaporate and leave behind the flavours and oil.
The CO2 extraction process is considered one of the best because it produces cannabinoids in their purest form. Of course, this happens with skilled hands and specific conditions at work. Unfortunately, this extraction method is not used in most circumstances because the equipment is costly and learning how to use them is quite a journey.
If you are wondering which CBD extraction method is the most ancient, then oil infusion could be what you are looking for. Most DIYers still use this extraction method and many are successful at it. The process starts by heating the hemp plant material to activate the compounds in it. You then take a carrier oil at 100°C to extract the required cannabinoids. The drawback this method comes with is the use of too much carrier oil than other methods. A lot evaporates as you heat.
Liquid solvent extraction is an easy and less costly method of extracting liquid solvents. It’s actually similar to ethanol extraction only that it uses other solvents like hexane, butane, and isopropyl alcohol. The process happens by running a solvent through decarboxylated cannabis material to extract cannabinoids and terpenes.
The problem with this method is that not all liquid solvents can remove impurities. Your extract may also be green(ish) in colour because solvents remove chlorophyll from plants. Also, you need to be careful during the extraction process because solvents are highly flammable and could cause a fire accident.
Because most of the extraction methods we discussed above don’t produce pure forms of cannabinoids and terpenes, most manufacturers use the following secondary methods to purify their extracts.
This process mixes high-grade alcohol with the cannabinoid and terpenes extract. The mixture is shaken thoroughly and left to settle. The alcohol helps to coagulate and freeze the components that are not needed. This then goes under filtration to remove the unwanted parts of the extract. What remains is put in a deep freezer at temperatures below zero for about 12 hours.
Doing this makes it cloudy with substances like fats and similar materials becoming solid. This undergoes filtration to remove the solid parts. The process can be repeated as many times as possible depending on the results.
With alcohol and CBD still mixed, you should heat the solution to the boiling point of alcohol (which is always lesser than that of CBD). The alcohol evaporates leaving behind a purer form of CBD.
Speaking of boiling points, the short path distillation process makes use of the varying boiling points of the compounds in the extract. This process happens through heating, eliminating the unneeded substances one after the other according to their boiling points. Contaminants, terpenoids, and flavonoids easily evaporate away when their boiling temperature strikes. For compounds with lower boiling points, a vacuum can be used to do the separation.
These vapours go through a distillation tube attached to cooling coils. The evaporated compound reach specific points along with the cooling coils and drip into separate storage cups. CBD often remains in the original container because it has a higher boiling point.
Once you have your CBD extract, it’s time to make CBD oil out of it. Here, carrier oil and flavouring are combined with CBD to create a CBD oil. Some of the carrier oils in the market include hemp oil, MCT oil, grapeseed oil, among others. These oils can easily absorb into your system, making them a great option as part of this product. Flavourings help remove the earthy taste that is part of most CBD oils. That's how you make CBD oil.
CBD extract can also be used to make edibles, vape juices, and other CBD laced products.
At Supreme CBD, we ensure all our CBD products undergo third-party testing. This makes sure that the consumer is getting quality products that won’t harm them in any way. Besides testing for purity, we also test for potency. If you are going to use any CBD product, you should ensure the manufacture does the third-party lab tests to be on the safe side.
After proof that our CBD oil is good, we package it in tinted storage bottles to keep away direct UV rays from tampering with the chemical composition. The bottles are properly sealed to make sure no contaminants get in there. Accurate labelling of which CBD is used in the oil, potency, and the amount in the bottle is shown on the packaging.
To successfully make CBD oil, you have to follow through with particular steps to get quality at the end of it. We don’t recommend you doing this at home. You are safer buying CBD products from vendors like us who are transparent with our processes and have been consistent at producing exceptional quality CBD products.
