CBD butter is a versatile and handy ingredient to have in the kitchen if you plan to make CBD edibles. You can make a wide range of delicious edibles using CBD butter, including brownies, cakes, pies, cookies, pasta, and even salads. Read this post to find out how to make CBD butter – as well as some tasty ideas for using it!

If you're a newbie to cooking, or just lacking in confidence, don't worry. Making CBD butter is easy, even for beginners. When you make it at home, it is cheaper than buying CBD oil for infusing into CBD edibles.

The best part is that you do not need any special equipment to make this delicious treat. If you make it from scratch, you can add terpenes and flavonoids to your edibles to help you enjoy them fully.

In this guide, we are going to show you several ways you can make CBD butter and ways to use it. Are you ready?

How to make CBD butter

This recipe is super easy, so even if you're not confident in the kitchen there's no need to worry. You definitely do not need to be a culinary master to follow it.

The process involves slowly cooking the butter and CBD oil mixture over low heat until the butter absorbs all the CBD. Maintaining low temperature is crucial as CBD will evaporate at temperatures above 200oF. Making CBD-infused butter is fun, and you can use full-spectrum, broad-spectrum or isolate CBD oil. It just depends on your preference.

One of the reasons that making CBD butter is a great option is because CBD dissolves and binds to fat. CBD and the other plant compounds are also more easily absorbed by your body when they bind to fat.

As you may know, butter comprises milk fat and a small percentage of water and milk solids. This makes it a perfect choice for infusing with CBD.

Water evaporates during cooking and the solids are strained to ensure a pure infused butter. For vegans, substitute dairy butter with any plant-based butter and the recipe works the same.

Unsurprisingly, the quality of the butter you start with determines the quality of the CBD butter you end up with. Hence, unsalted butter is better as it contains fewer impurities. Clarified butter can be a good choice, though it is not necessary.

Keep in mind that the quantity of CBD butter at the end of the process will be twenty-five per cent less than the amount of butter you started with. This loss means that, if a recipe you're thinking about making calls for a stick of CBD butter, we advise you to infuse a stick and a quarter of butter.

Alternatively, prepare more in advance and store it in the fridge. That way, you can easily make sure you have enough for whatever edibles recipe you decide to make.

How to make CBD butter on the hob

Before we begin, you need to gather what is needed, including a pot or pan large enough to hold the butter and a digital thermometer.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Put the butter, water and CBD oil in a pot.
  2. Place the mixture on the hob and set it to high.
  3. Using your digital thermometer, monitor the temperature and when it reaches 1850F reduce the heat to low. Maintain this temperature for the remaining duration.
  4. The butter will take around two hours to absorb the CBD. After two hours, the butter is ready, and you should remove it from the heat.
  5. Set it aside to cool. The infused CBD butter will solidify. The water and milk solids will remain at the bottom.
  6. The CBD butter can now be stored in an airtight container or bag and stored in the fridge. For extended storage, you can freeze the CBD butter.

With this recipe, the water is used to help regulate the temperature. This helps to prevent your butter from getting burnt. The water evaporates during cooking, and you can simply discard the remainder once the butter solidifies.

And there you go! Your CBD butter is now ready to be used in any recipe you desire.

There are other recipes for making CBD butter out there, too, so feel free to try various different ones to find the one you like best. However, just remember that CBD evaporates at high temperatures, so you should be sure to avoid recipes that call for high heat. Also, if you choose to freeze your CBD butter, avoid thawing it in the microwave for this same reason.

When using CBD oil, you can roughly calculate the amount of CBD in your butter. The more potent the CBD oil is, the more potent your butter will be. As with any method for taking CBD, be sure to monitor your dosage with care. Avoid exceeding the dosage recommended by the manufacturer of your CBD oil.
